Spider-Man's costume gets an upgrade: An MP3 player, but is it an iPod?

It's something that Stan Lee and Steve Ditko could not have imagined when they created the Amazing Spider-Man back in 1962. As revealed on Tuesday, Improvements have been made to the costume that will be worked by Andrew Garfield in "The Amazing Spider-Man 2," and one of them is the inclusion of an MP3 player in the outfit.

Deborah Lynn Scott is the costume designer for the 2014 film. She explained:
You'll see early on in the film that he can turn music on that he's listening to inside the costume through his web shooter.
The big question now remains: Will they call the MP3 player an iPod of some sort, or just a generic MP3 player?

Producer Matt Tolmach added,
The suit is different. The suit is bad-ass. The suit is improved.
Among the improvements are changes designed to satisfy hard-core Spidey-fans. For example, there was much criticism over the fact that the original film's costume lacked a belt.

Scott said,
It's there in the source material (comic books), so this one (costume) does (have one).
When asked why Spider-Man needs a belt, Scott showed her lack of Spidey knowledge. She said:
I don't know. He just always has. There are rules to comic-book characters.
Although certainly not a utility belt a la Batman, Spider-Man's belt has been used to hold such items as spare web cartridges for his web shooters.

Filming on the sequel wrapped last month. Jamie Foxx plays the electrifying villain, Electro, in the movie. "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" is scheduled for a release on May 2, 2014. It will be followed by two more sequels on June 10, 2016, and May 4, 2018.
