Chris Pratt is ripped for his 'Guardians of the Galaxy' Star-Lord role

Chris Pratt, best known for his role in the NBC sitcom "Parks and Recreation," is getting ripped for his upcoming role in the Marvel Studios film "Guardians of the Galaxy." By, that, though, we don't mean that he is being lambasted for the film, but instead that Pratt is getting muscular and fit for his role as Peter Quill / Star-Lord. He showed off his buff new body on Instagram on Sunday.

The caption for the image was:
Six months no beer. #GOTG Kinda douchey to post this but my brother made me.
The Guardians of the Galaxy have had several incarnation. Peter Quill is part of the 2008 version. In addition to Star-Lord, the 2008 team features Rocket Raccoon, a laser gun wielding -- you guessed it, raccoon; Groot, a plant monster from outer space; Gamora, a female martial arts master; and the super-powered Drax the Destroyer. There are additional members, but these are the ones expected to be in the film.

Star-Lord is the leader of the team. His alter-ego is Peter Quill, the son of a human mother and alien father. He eventually becomes a NASA astronaut, and gains his powers from an entity called the Master of the Sun. Wikipedia describes Star-Lord as follows:
Star-Lord is a master strategist and problem solver who is an expert in close quarter combat, various human and alien firearms, battle techniques and has an extensive knowledge on various alien customs, societies and cultures, as well as various knowledge about cosmic abstracts such as Oblivion.

As Star-Lord, Peter Quill wears a suit that grants augmented strength and durability and the ability to travel through space. The character also uses an "Element Gun," a special meta-pistol capable of projecting one of the four elements (air, earth, fire and water). Star-Lord also shares a psychic link with his sentient space vessel, "Ship."
Guardians of the Galaxy is set to release on Aug. 1, 2014.
