Kardashian sharing via Twitter: Images from Greece

The Kardashian clan has taken its cameras overseas to Greece for the eighth season of "Keeping Up with the Kardashians," which premieres in early June. With that, the family has shared, via Twitter, Instagram, and TwitPic, personal photos from the "vacation," which were packaged up into a neat little album on Tuesday.

In addition to those you might expect (Kim, Kourtney, momager Kris Jenner), the images include Bruce Jenner’s sons Brody and Brandon Jenner (who will be recurring cast members in season eight). They also show off his daughters with Kris, Kylie and Kendall.

They also show an explosive image of Kendall that was exposed earlier via Instagram, which were posted separately on Monday.

Kim Kardashian has -- since the photos were taken -- already left Greece en route to Paris, France. She is jetting there via a private jet sent to her by her beau, Kanye West.

A slideshow of images can be seen here.

Kim and Kanye ask for donations to Lurie Children's Hospital instead of baby gifts

Why would people as rich as Kim Kardashian and Kanye West need folks to give them baby gifts? They don't, and as reported on Tuesday, they don't want them. Instead, the couple wants friends and family -- and fans -- to donate to the Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, it was announced on Tuesday.

Well-wishers are also being asked to give money -- not, say, toys -- to the hospital.

In response, reps for the hospital applauded the couple's offers. The Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago said,
Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago would like to extend its sincerest gratitude to Kim Kardashian and Kanye West for their thoughtfulness and support of the hospital.

Funds donated on behalf of Kardashian and West will be directed to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Fund which will help care for the most critically ill babies and their families.

We wish them all the best in the upcoming arrival of their baby.
Wikipedia gives us a better feel for the mission of Lurie's Children's Hospital of Chicago.
Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago (formerly Children's Memorial Hospital) in Chicago, Illinois is a pediatric specialty hospital. Located in the downtown Streeterville neighborhood, the hospital has 1,100 physicians on its medical staff and 4,000 employees. Lurie Children’s offers 70 pediatric sub-specialties and has physicians at 14 other city and suburban locations.

Based on volume, it is ranked #1 regionally in all pediatric specialties and is accredited by the Joint Commission (formerly known as the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations). Physicians and staff provided highly specialized care for more than 148,000 children in 2011, from every U.S. state and 35 countries.
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are expecting their first child in July.

Ex-fiancee of outed NBA player Jason Collins never suspected he was gay

The former fiancee of now "out" NBA player Jason Collins says she had no idea that he was gay. She spoke on the matter on Tuesday.

Her name is Carolyn Moos. She is 34 years old, and Wikipedia describes her as "an American model, personal trainer, nutrition consultant and a former collegiate and professional basketball player." At 6'6", she was probably a good match, height-wise, for the 7'0" Collins.

Moos played briefly in the WNBA. In 2001, after graduating from Stanford, the same school that Collins attended, Moos was drafted by the Phoenix Mercury as the 53rd pick in the fourth round. Later in 2001, she played overseas professionally in France in the FIBA. In the 2002 WNBA season, Moos played for the Miami Sol.

Moos said:
It's very emotional for me as a woman to have invested eight years in my dream to have a husband, soul mate, and best friend in him. So this is all hard to understand.

I care about [Jason] tremendously and only want the best for him. I want Jason to be happy for a lifetime and stay true to who he really is, inside and out.
The couple's engagement was called off in 2009.

Moos said she never suspected Collins was gay. When the couple broke up, Collins gave her what she called "BS reasons" for the split, and it is only now, when the truth has been revealed, that she understands things. She added that Collins revealed everything last weekend, just days before SI published an article online.

Maria Shriver returns to NBC News, 'Today'

No longer restricted by estranged husband Arnold Schwarzenegger's political ambitions, Maria Shriver is heading back to NBC News, it was announced on Tuesday. She was forced to when Schwarzenegger ran for governor of California as a Republican in 2003 -- and won.

NBC announced today on "Today" that Shriver will serve as a "special anchor" covering "the shifting roles, emerging power and evolving needs of women in modern life." In addition, Shriver will be editor-at-large across NBC's digital platforms, covering women's issues.

Shriver tweeted the news:
I'm excited to be going forward with @NBCNews as a special anchor.
She also posted a blog entry on LinkedIn, where she said:
In 2004, I took a leave from network news to work as First Lady of California, which was also an honor and a privilege. But the truth is I never took a leave from journalism. I just took my reporter's skills and used them in other arenas: producing The Women's Conference, the Minerva Awards, The Shriver Report, The Alzheimer's Project, and my own website where everyday people report from the frontlines of their lives.

Wherever and whenever I could, I’ve collected people's stories and tried to tell them in ways that could empower them and others. The journalism is in me, so all my life, I've looked for platforms (films, books, live events, digital and social media) where I could engage my passions and my purpose.

After doing that for several years, I've come to appreciate even more how television journalism, paired with digital, can engage and elevate humanity in incredible ways -- educating, edifying, impacting people's minds and hearts. I’ve come to recognize how that powerful combination of platforms can help us get to the heart of a story, to get to the truth and tell it in a compelling way.

That’s why I've decided to move forward into the next phase of my life by forging a new partnership with an old partner: NBC News. I'm going forward by doing what I love to do -- telling stories that I feel are important to bring to life -- and doing it in some new ways.
Shriver added that in addition to the above responsibilities, she will also be profile those she likes to call "Architects of Change." These are, she said, "groundbreaking women and men who are pushing the boundaries of society, technology, media, science, business, faith and politics."

Shriver's first report in her new position was an interview with playwright/activist Eve Ensler about her battle with cancer. Shriver tweeted:
This interview with @EveEnsler was my first piece in my new role with @NBCNews. I am in awe of Eve!
Schwarzenegger left office in 2011, termed out as California's governor. Just after that, news arose that he had an affair with the couple's housekeeper, and even fathered a child with her.

Shriver moved out and filed for divorce, although that is still pending.

Shriver's interview with Ensler is embedded.

Lindsay Lohan in tow-away trouble

Lindsay Lohan is again in hot water with the police, but at least she wasn't arrested this time. Lohan can be seen in the embedded video picking up her Porsche Panamera on Monday at the New York Police Department's Brooklyn tow yard.

Lohan's ride was towed on Saturday night, but the yard was closed on Sunday, so she had to wait until Monday to pick it up. The 26-year-old actress is still out and about until her rehab program kicks in; she has been ordered to enroll in a 90-day rehab program by May 2.

Lindsay Lohan's Porsche was towed after she parked illegally on a Brooklyn street. At least she didn't try to pull an "I'm a celebrity" stunt -- this time.

Instead, she filed the proper paperwork, paid the towing fee, and picked up her car. She even posted a picture of herself and a fan (indeed, there are still many of them) on Instagram (above) in the yard's office.

Amanda Bynes shares strange new video, not quite as inexplicable as earlier, mumbling video

Amanda Bynes returned to Telly, it was reported on Monday, with another strange video.

For those who don't know, Telly is not "the Telly" (or television), but is a video sharing site that was once known as TwitVid.

The new video is not as strange as the one she posted -- also to Telly -- just two weeks ago. In that one, Bynes seemed to be mumbling in front of the camera. After the media's reaction to that video, she lashed out, threatening to sue numerous outlets.

In the new video, her image reflected in the mirror appears to be expanding and contracting. It took us a while to figure it out -- she wasn't using the zoom function on her iPhone, but instead was walking slowly toward, then away from the mirror.

Bynes posted the video on Twitter on Sunday.

She captioned the video with the text "Chilling - what are you doing?" then, just a few hours later, retweeted the same video -- only sans sound -- and wrote "Watch my video on #twitvid."

She also tweeted a number of images of herself at the gym (slideshow, here).

Catherine Zeta-Jones turns to a medical facility for bipolar treatment

Catherine Zeta-Jones has again turned to a treatment again for help with her bipolar disorder. Reports say that the Academy Award-winning actress (Best Supporting Actress, "Chicago") checked herself into a health-care facility on Monday to better manage the medication for her condition.

Zeta-Jones rep, Cece Yorke, confirmed that she had checked into a health care facility:
Catherine has proactively checked into a health care facility. Previously Catherine has said that she is committed to periodic care in order to manage her health in an optimum manner.
An anonymous source said that the actress, 43, had always planned a return to a facility to better manage her health:
There was no big problem. This was just a good time to do it. She is in between projects. This has always been part of the plan. She would manage her health. She is vigilant about it."
Zeta-Jones first announced in 2011 that she had bipolar disorder. At the time, she spent some time in the Silver Hill Hospital in New Canaan, Conn.

Since her announcement, the actress has been open about her bipolar disorder, saying that she hoped that her disclosure and further revelations about it would help diminish the stigma that some feel.

Zeta-Jones, 43, said at the time:
This is a disorder that affects millions of people and I am one of them. If my revelation of having bipolar II has encouraged one person to seek help, then it is worth it. There is no need to suffer silently and there is no shame in seeking help.
In the past, bipolar disorder was called manic depression. In lay terms, it is a condition in which the patient suffers mood swings in both directions, meaning they will swing from manic (exceedingly happy) to extremely depressed.

In the case of Zeta-Jones, her exact diagnosis, according to Wikipedia, is bipolar II disorder.

Bipolar II disorder is similar, but not identical to bipolar I disorder. Moods cycling between high and low over time, but in bipolar II disorder, the "high" moods never reach full-on mania. The less-intense "high" moods in bipolar II disorder are called hypomanic episodes, or hypomania.

Fox News host Brian Kilmeade stunned after Mike Tyson says he likes paying taxes, Obamacare

Former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson, appearing on Fox News to promote his one-man show, "Mike Tyson: Undisputed Truth," sent "Fox and Friends" co-host Brian Kilmeade into shock when he said that a) he liked paying his taxes, and b) he liked Obamacare.

Tyson, who owes million in back taxes, said he hoped to pay off those debts with his one-man show. He then told Kilmeade why he liked -- in fact was proud -- to pay his taxes. He said:
I'm so proud to be in this. I look forward to paying off my taxes and paying off my country, because that's my duty. I know they say that's legal extortion, but listen, I'm living in this country and if I got to pay taxes, that's the money that I paid for my life on Earth.
Kilmeade's eye widened as he listened to Tyson. Tyson continued, saying:
I've got the biggest liberal family in the world. But I had the more money when Bush and Reagan was president! Oh I shouldn't -- my wife's going to kill me for that.
Kilmeade jumped in, saying:
Bush and Reagan had this idea that you should keep your money.
To that, Tyson replied that he might just save some money with the help of Obamacare. He said:
Yeah, I'd like that to work for me. I'm going to work on that one to with this Obama administration, see can this Obamacare help us keep some money.
Earlier this year, Tyson told HBO that the figure he owed the IRS was in the “millions.”

First homophobic tweet after Jason Collins came out goes to WR Mike Wallace

TMZ was closely monitoring Twitter after NBA center Jason Collins came out on Monday. Truly, we can't be sure, but according to the site, the first pro athlete to issue a homophobic or otherwise anti-gay-laced tweet Miami Dolphins wide receiver Mike Wallace, who posted his message on Monday morning.

Wallace, 26, tweeted:
All these beautiful women in the world and guys wanna mess with other guys SMH (shakin' my head) ...
Wallace didn't take long before rethinking his tweet (or someone, perhaps his agent, didn't take long in telling him to rethink his tweet). About a half hour later, Wallace deleted his tweet and replaced it with an explanation:
Never said anything was right or wrong I just said I don't understand!! Deeply sorry for anyone that I offended.
Jason Collins, a 7'0" tall center, who played on the Celtics and Wizards this season, came out in a Sports Illustrated story published to the Internet on Monday.

As such, Collins became the first active player in one of the big four U.S. pro sports (NBA, MLB, NFL, NHL) to come out.

Wallace, entering his fifth NFL season, signed with the Miami Dolphins in a five-year deal worth $60 million dollars in March.

NBA center Jason Collins becomes the first active U.S. major league athlete to come out as gay

For the first time, an active player in one of the four major men's sports leagues (NBA, MLB, NFL or NHL) has come out as gay. In an article in the May 6 edition of Sports Illustrated, which was published online Monday morning, Jason Collins wrote the following:
I'm a 34-year-old NBA center. I'm black. And I'm gay.
Collins split this season between the Boston Celtics and the Washington Wizards. The 7'0", 255-pound center played 32 games for the Celtics and six for the Wizards.

He is not signed to any time for the 2013-2014 season, and will become a free agent on July 1. Collins intends to pursue another contract in the summer, which may prove to be a test for how NBA teams react to the announcement. On the other hand, Collins' numbers this season -- 1.2 PPG for the Celtics and 0.7 PPG for the Wizards, along with 1.6 and 1.3 RPG respectively -- are not the type of numbers that would attract a large number of suitors.

His twin brother Jarron -- both attended Stanford University -- wrote an article supporting his brother in the same issue of SI. He wrote:
At the end of the day, this is what matters: He's my brother, he's a great guy, and I want him to be happy. I'll love him and I'll support him and, if necessary, I'll protect him.
Jarron is inactive, having last played for the Portland Trail Blazers in 2011.

Jason Collins wrote of his decision:
The recent Boston Marathon bombing reinforced the notion that I shouldn't wait for the circumstances of my coming out to be perfect. Things can change in an instant, so why not live truthfully? When I told Joe (Kennedy, his old roommate at Stanford and now a Massachusetts congressman) a few weeks ago that I was gay, he was grateful that I trusted him. He asked me to join him in 2013. We'll be marching on June 8.
Describing Three Degrees of Jason Collins, the condition caused by his movement around the league -- he has played for six pro teams and have appeared in two NBA Finals -- Collins concluded:
Some people insist they've never met a gay person. But Three Degrees of Jason Collins dictates that no NBA player can claim that anymore. Pro basketball is a family. And pretty much every family I know has a brother, sister or cousin who's gay. In the brotherhood of the NBA, I just happen to be the one who's out.

'Pacific Rim' Wondercon trailer finally hits the Internet

A new -- or old, depending on your point of view -- trailer for the upcoming film "Pacific Rim" hit the Internet on Monday. The footage originally debuted at Wondercon in late March, but was not released to the wild until Monday.

It follows closely the recently revealed poster for the film.

The movie is Guillermo del Toro's first directing job since 2008's "Hellboy 2: The Golden Army." Reports are that he is already working on at least the script for a sequel.

Wikipedia's synopsis for the film is:
When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, start rising from the sea, a war begins that takes millions of lives and consumes humanity's resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon is devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers prove nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju.

On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes - a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi) - who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.
Based on a screenplay by Travis Beacham, the film focuses on giant monsters named Kaiju and giant human-controlled (and humanoid-appearing) robot weapons called Jaegers. The Jaegers can vary in design, and at least one of the ones shown in a prior trailer has four arms, not two.

In this new footage, we see more backstory. We also see more fighting. We -- finally -- learn that, at least for a time, mankind's Jaegers win. Then -- they start to lose.

The Jaegers are operated in a manner similar to some anime series and films, responding to the movements of their neural-bridged co-pilots. In other words, the pilots walk themselves in order to make a Jaeger walk. They punch to make a Jaeger punch.

Idris Elba's speech, toward the end of the video, channels "Independence Day." He says, "Today we are cancelling the apocalypse."

The film will hit 3D, 2D and IMAX theaters on July 12. The movie stars Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day, Ron Perlman, Robert Kazinsky, Max Martini, Clifton Collins, Jr., Burn Gorman, Larry Joe Campbell, Brad William Henke and Diego Klattenhoff.

'Teen Mom' Farrah Abraham signs high six-figure porn video deal

Farrah Abraham, one of MTV's "Teen Moms," who has been shopping around the sex tape she made with porn star James Deen, has made a deal, according to a report on Monday.

Abraham scored a sweet deal. It wasn't in the million dollar range, but it was high-six figures, according to the report. That means that Abraham will make out with say, an estimated $800 - $900 thousand. Or thereabouts, anyway, and coming from Vivid Entertainment, which has been interested in the film from the beginning.

For those wondering -- and paying attention -- Deen recently starred in a non-pornographic role in the movie "The Canyons."  There, his co-star was Lindsay Lohan, and her escapades on the set were well-documented by the New York Times.

Last Monday, Abraham met with Vivid entertainment head Steve Hirsch. Not only that, but as the embedded video shows, she dragged alone two assistants: her father and her daughter. It might be considered a little unusual to drag along a toddler, but hey, Abraham is a "Teen Mom" cast member, after all.

The 70-minute-long porn film will be titled: "Farrah Superstar: Backdoor Teen Mom."

Backdoor, eh? Those familiar should know what to expect on the film.

Jets wave farewell: Team waives QB Tim Tebow

The Tim Tebow era is over in New York, at least unless the New York Giants pick up the new free agent quarterback. The New York Jets announced on Monday that they had released the once high-flying, though controversial, player, after just one season.

In a press release, New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan said:
We have a great deal of respect for Tim Tebow. Unfortunately, things did not work out the way we all had hoped. Tim is an extremely hard worker, evident by the shape he came back in this offseason. We wish him the best moving forward.
Although many analysts felt that Tebow would never become a starting NFL quarterback, his success during his 2011 season with the Denver Broncos made him -- if not a star -- a celebrity.

When the Broncos landed Peyton Manning, Tebow's days in Denver were numbered, and the Jets soon picked him up in a move that astounded many. The team was criticized for what some called excessive coverage and acclaim for a backup quarterback. It wasn't just the Jets though, as the media was wild over Tebow. His introductory news conference in March 2012, for example, drew more than 200 media members.

However, the results during the season didn't pan out. Eventually, Tebow fell all the way to third-string.

With the second-round pick of Geno Smith (other Jets QBs were Mark Sanchez, David Garrard, Greg McElroy and Matt Simms, as well as Tebow), someone had to go. That player was Tebow.

Tebow will certainly eventually be joined by others. With the drafting of Smith, it's clear that -- if they have not given up on Sanchez -- the team is leaning that way. It's always rough when a rookie QB starts, often because the team is so bad that they have little support from the rest of the team.

Sanchez, though, would probably be the backup, were Smith to start. Tebow, however, sees his NFL career in jeopardy, at least as an NFL quarterback. Some have projected him as an H-back; it remains to be seen if anyone will gamble on him for the upcoming 2013 season.

Video shows 'Grateful Dead' founding member Bob Weir's collapse during concert

He's not "Grateful" dead yet, but it was scary. Bob Weir, one of the founding members of the Greatful Dead -- who now plays guitar for the band Furthur -- collapsed during a concert on Thursday night in Port Chester, N.Y.

The incident can be seen in the video embedded below. Weir had to be assisted offstage. Reportedly, he collapsed after collapsing during a song after suffering serious pain in his shoulder.

Further was closing out a nine show residency at the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester. According to reports, Weir struggled throughout the night on both vocals as well as guitar.

During the band's second set of the evening, Weir collapsed during "Unbroken Chain." He was helped back up by crew members, and was given a chair to sit in. Further left the stage after the song, and the other band members returned after a few minutes.

Phil Lesh then told the crowd that Weir was being bothered by a strained shoulder and that the set would continue without him.

Further is scheduled to play at Atlantic City's Boardwalk Hall tomorrow. At the time of this writing, there is no word either on Weir's condition or on the status of the show.

MTV greenlights one-hour pilot for possible 'Scream' series

Scream if you like the movie "Scream." Scream long and hard, and send your vibes to MTV; the cable network has ordered a pilot for a series version of the iconic thriller movie series, it was reported on Friday.

"Scream" spawned not just three sequels, but a marriage. Courtney Cox and David Arquette, who met on the set of "Scream," later wed. The couple eventually separated and has filed for divorce.

For MTV and Dimension Films' one-hour pilot, the partners are reportedly negotiating with the original film's director, Wes Craven. They'd like Craven to helm the pilot; there's is no writer in place. If the pilot is moved to a series, MTV save that "Scream" would debut in the summer of 2014.

MTV made the announcement at the network's annual upfront presentation. The network also announced that "Snooki & JWOWW" will return for a third season. It also unveiled three new series coming to the network, "Generation Cryo," "Nurse Nation" and "The Hook Up."

"Cryo" is a documentary show that examines children -- those conceived via anonymous sperm donors -- who are coming of age. It will follow the life of 17-year-old only child Breeanna, who recently joined the Donor Sibling Registry, which is a website whose mission is to connect sperm donor families together. After joining, she learned that she has at least 15 half-siblings all fathered by a man none of them know.

"Nurse Nation" is another new documentary series. It follows the lives of nine twenty-something travel nurses. Some of them are rookies, and some of them are veterans. All are assigned to work at a new hospital in a brand new city for 13 weeks.

Travel nurses were developed in response to the ongoing nursing shortage. This industry supplies nurses who travel to work in temporary nursing positions, mostly in hospitals.

"The Hook Up" will be hosted by Andrew Schulz of the "Guy Code." The dating show asks contestants to choose from four potential suitors based on their social media history.

Psy booted totally off Korean top ten list by 63-year-old crooner

How can this be? As reported on Thursday, South Korean singer Psy, who recently released the follow-up to his mega-hit "Gangnam Style," "Gentleman," has been dethroned from the top of his native land's music charts. In what is a somewhat bizarre set of events, he was bumped by a 63-year-old crooner.

Cho Yong-pil, who has been a fixture of Korean pop music since 1975 with his ballads and electronic music, took over the top spot in Korea with "Bounce" (embedded). That news came via both the daily and weekly charts on Naver, Korea's top internet portal.

Not only did "Bounce" bounce Psy from the top spot, his album has bounced Psy from the entire top 10. His latest album dominates that list.

Cho's songs took the top ten places on the daily charts, with Gentleman down to no 13. In terms of the weekly charts, Psy is still in second place.

In the U.S., though, "Gentleman" this week moved up to fifth place on the Billboard Hot 100. It has also racked up over 220 million views on YouTube after breaking the record for first-day views for music videos.

In addition, "Gangnam Style" still holds the YouTube record for most views with more than 1.5 billion. That song moved Psy from someone well-known in his home country to someone well-known globally.

'Monsters University': New trailer finally gives us a plot

A new trailer for Disney and Pixar's upcoming "Monsters University" debuted on Thursday. The film is a prequel to the smash 2001 movie "Monsters, Inc."

The official synopsis of the film is as follows:
Set about 10 years before the events of "Monsters, Inc.," serious yet intelligent 17-year-old Michael "Mike" Wazowski (voiced by Billy Crystal) is extremely eager to start college, where he is majoring in scaring. Things don't go quite as planned, though, when 18-year-old James P. "Sulley" Sullivan (voiced by John Goodman) happens to be in the same fraternity as him.

Sulley shows to be almost the exact opposite of Mike: playful, all-brawn, and most notably large. He is also majoring in scaring, however, and they soon become enemies in a rivalry that will tear their worlds apart, including going to jail, but ultimately brings them together.
The earlier trailers for "Monsters University" introduced us to the school, but didn't really tell us what the plot was. In this trailer, we finally learn more about the storyling.

It appears that our friends Mike and Sully will have to enter the "Scare Games." If they lose, they will be booted out of the college.

Billy Crystal, John Goodman, Steve Buscemi, and Frank Oz are reprising their roles as Mike Wazowski, James P. Sullivan, Randall Boggs, and Jeff Fungus, respectively.

Also voicing characters will be Helen Mirren, Alfred Molina, Dave Foley, Sean P. Hayes, Joel Murray, Peter Sohn, Charlie Day, Nathan Fillion, Bobby Moynihan, Julia Sweeney, Aubrey Plaza, Tyler Labine, John Krasinski, Bonnie Hunt, Beth Behrs and John Ratzenberger.

"Monsters University" is currently scheduled to be released on June 21, 2013.

Warner Bros. unveils new 'Pacific Rim' poster: 'Go big, or go extinct'

On Wednesday, Warner Bros. unveiled a new poster for the Guillermo del Toro-helmed science fiction film "Pacific Rim." The new poster gives us the relative size of mankind's Jaegers, its only defense against the giant Kaiju.

In an earlier trailer (embedded) we hear a voice-over by Hunnam, who plays Raleigh Antrobus, where he says:
We always thought alien life would come from the stars. But it came from deep beneath the sea — a portal between dimensions in the Pacific Ocean.

[We then see a suspension bridge and a giant monster emerges, crushing it while it is filled with people in cars.]

Something out there had discovered us. They counted on humans to hide, to give up, to fail ... but they never considered our ability to stand, to endure. That we would rise to the challenge."
Then we get out first look at the Jaegers. In a method similar to some anime series and films, Jaegers respond to the movements of their neural-bridged co-pilot. The pilots walk themselves in order to make a Jaeger walk. They punch to make a Jaeger punch.

Finally, a speech reminiscent of Bill Pullman's "Independence Day" speech before the climatic human - alien battle, with Stacker Pentecost (played by "The Wire's" Idris Elba) saying:
Today, at the edge of our hope, at the end of our time, we have chosen to believe in each other. Today, we face the monsters that are at our door. Today, we are canceling the apocalypse!
The film will hit 3D, 2D and IMAX theaters on July 12. The movie stars Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day, Ron Perlman, Robert Kazinsky, Max Martini, Clifton Collins, Jr., Burn Gorman, Larry Joe Campbell, Brad William Henke and Diego Klattenhoff.

As the poster says, "Go big, or go extinct."

Beloved dog of Sly Stallone's family found dead from coyote attack

Dog lovers -- and Sylvester Stallone fans -- are weeping today. It was reported on Thursday that the beloved dog of Sylvester Stallone's family, Phoebe, has died.

Apparently Phoebe passed away some time ago, a couple of weeks according to the report. The dog did not go quietly in her sleep though: She was killed by coyotes.

The heart-rending story is as follows: Phoebe vanished a couple of weeks ago. The family searched the area of their Bel Air community, hoping to find the dog. They went so far as to put up posters, as well, something you might expect from John or Jane Q. Public, but not a star as big as Stallone.

The poster says it all: The family was willing to part with a $10,000 reward in exchange for Phoebe's safe return.

However, the story has a tragic ending. Someone discovered Phoebe's body on the Stallone property. Based on her remains, she was the apparent victim of a coyote attack. Stallone's rep confirmed that "Phoebe's death has been very difficult for the family."

Marijuana found on Bieber's bus; Stockholm police say no charges will be filed

 photo MicrosoftSurfaceTablet.jpg
On Wednesday night, marijuana was discovered on Justin Bieber's bus. The vehicle was parked in front of the Grand Hotel in Stockholm, Sweden, when police say that they smelled the odor of weed emanating from it.

According to the report, when the bus left the hotel and headed toward the Ericsson Globe (originally known as the Stockholm Globe Arena), the officer contacted a special narcotics unit, which issued a warrant to search Bieber's bus. The bus was searched while it sat in the parking garage of the Ericsson Globe. No one was aboard the bus at the time, and that turns out to be a key.

Police say they found a small amount of drugs on the bus. While authorities won't reveal exactly which drug, local Swedish papers say it was weed. In addition, the police discovered a taser, which requires a permit in Sweden.

Justin Bieber had been seen with one of his BFFs, Lil Za, in the hours before the incident. As you might recall, Lil Za is one of the friends that Bieber seems to party with in somewhat illicit ways. He was seen smoking pot with Bieber at a Los Angeles home earlier this year.

According to the report, no one will be charged in the incident. The reason, police say, is that since the bus was empty, they have no idea who the drug belonged to. Apparently the narcotics were found on the floor of the bus.

Zooey Deschanel receives apology after closed-captioning service IDs her as Boston bombing suspect

The closed-captioning service which misidentified Zooey Deschanel as as one of the Boston Marathon bombing suspects apologized to the "New Girl" actress on Tuesday. The closed-captioning FUBAR was seen last Friday, as authorities continued their manhunt for 19-year-old Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.

Lawrence, Kan.-based Caption Solutions says it -- and its captioner -- “deeply regret” the error. Company president Kala J. Patterson added, in a statement issued Tuesday, they “sincerely apologize for this error.” It was unclear what exactly went wrong or how the caption was made to read Zooey Deschanel instead of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, whose name (quite obviously) does not resemble the actress' name at all.

The erroneous captioning -- as shown above -- appeared on Fox affiliate KDFW in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, stating the following:
Marathon Bomber. He is 19-year-old Zooey Deschanel
Twitter went wild over the issue, with Deschanel learned of the TV captioning blunder over the weekend and tweeted: “Whoa! Epic closed captioning FAIL!”

Credit for the first tweet regarding the erroneous closed-captioning text goes to Peter Ogburn, who appears on the "Bill Press Show" on Current TV and on the radio. Ogburn wrote "Oh come on, Fox" after first seeing the mistake.

Mark Wahlberg 'oks' Funky Bunch reunion, if to benefit Boston Marathon victims

Mark Wahlberg could be Marky Mark again. On Wednesday, the former rapper, now an actor, producer, and more, said that he would be willing to reunite with The Funky Bunch in order to raise funds for the victims of the Boston Marathon Bombing.

Wahlberg's statement was taped when he was caught on camera (embedded) leaving T.C. Williams High School in Alexandria, Va., Wednesday morning.

When asked if he would do a once-in-a-lifetime concert to benefit the victims of the bombing, Wahlberg replied "absolutely." When pressed about a reunion with the "Fun Bunch," he corrected the paparazzo and said "Funky Bunch," then said "Why not?"

It's not as good as the absolutely Wahlberg gave earlier, but it's something.

In March, Wahlberg reportedly told a U.K. magazine he "might" get the band together for a reunion, but added that caveat that, "I've just got to find the right time." In response, two of the Bunch's former members, Terry Yancey (DJ T) and Hector Barros (The Booty Inspector) said "Our initial reaction was that it would be amazing if he were to want to reunite with the group."

Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch was active from 1989 to 1993. The group's debut album, "Music for the People," was released on July 23, 1991. It made it to no. 1 on the Top Heatseekers chart and no. 21 on the Billboard 200.

However, their follow-up album, entitled "You Gotta Believe," which was released on Sept. 15, 1992, had little success. It only made it as high as no. 67 on the Billboard 200, and the album's lone single, also titled "You Gotta Believe," only went to no. 49 on the Hot 100.

Indictments handed down in Kate Middleton topless photo scandal

 photo Sweden.jpg
Two indictments have been made in a French court over the publication of pictures in the now-infamous Kate Middleton topless -- and bottomless -- photo scandal. The indictments were announced on Wednesday.

According to sources, Ernesto Mauri, Chief Executive of Mondadori France, which is the publisher of the magazine Closer, where some of the shots were published, and a photographer at regional daily La Provence were charged. Insiders in Paris say the photographer in question is Valerie Suau. That identity, however, has not been confirmed by the authorities.

The controversial photos are believed to have been taken with a telephoto lens from a kilometer away. They show Prince William and the Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, sunbathing while on holiday at Chateau d' Autet in the south of France.

Both Suau and Mauri face a criminal trial.

According to the report, the French court in Nanterre will reach a decision on June 5. The French case does not cover the various international publications which also published the pictures. Those include Ireland's Daily Star, Italy's Chi, and Denmark's Se og Hør.

British publications agreed that they would not publish the images.

Possible litigation staved off mid-season 'Idol' replacement of Mariah Carey with Jennifer Lopez

A new "American Idol" rumor was swiftly debunked by Fox, but considering the somewhat ratings-challenged position of the show, could it be far from the truth? The Tuesday rumor said that "Idol" wants to "trade up" and add Jennifer Lopez back to the judges' panel while booting Mariah Carey off.

The report came via sources connected with the network, but was quickly denied by Fox. A Fox spokesperson said on Wednesday that
This is just another ridiculous "Idol" judge rumor, likely started by talks of Jennifer performing on the finale.
The Hollywood Reporter first wrote about the possibility, calling the situation "Idol" panic.

In fact, the report said, the network planned to make a rather panicky move. Rather than wait for the season to end and replace Carey prior to the next one, execs had approached Lopez with the intention of replacing Carey in mid-season. The plan was underway, except for one thing that blocked it: a threat of litigation by Carey.

That being said, "Idol's" producers are still negotiating with Lopez, hoping to snare her to appear on the show's season finale in May. That appearance could possibly bridge Lopez into a role for next season; she was a popular judge the past two seasons but exited before the current one.

Either way, insiders say that a search has begun to replace Carey. The sources added that Minaj is likely out as well, and that it's possible the entire panel could be replaced prior to next season.

"Idol" does need some help. It's possible that America is no longer in love with its once favorite reality talent show. Although its 12th season began well enough, with the show earning a 6.0 rating in the key 18-49 demographic and 17.9 million total viewers in its January return, the Wednesday performance show is currently averaging its worst numbers since its 2001 debut season, a 4.3 rating with adults 18-49. Those numbers are also dropping nearly every week.

It's reported that Carey's performance has been viewed somewhat in the same vein as Britney Spears "X Factor" gig last year. In other words, Carey has been too vanilla and lackluster.

Meanwhile, though, while Nicki Minaj has been "Idol's" spark, internal Fox research is said to show that Minaj is unpopular with the show's core audience. A source said:
The core viewer is a midwestern, Southern, older woman who is threatened by Nicki’s aggressiveness.

'Metallica Through the Never' to be the first movie to debut on IMAX

Metallica's upcoming movie will become the first film to debut on super-sized IMAX screens, the group announced on Wednesday.

In the press release, it was announed that filmmaker Nimród Antal’s 3D movie, "Metallica Through The Never," will be digitally re-mastered into the IMAX 3D format and released exclusively into IMAX theatres in North America for a one-week engagement beginning on Friday, Sept. 27. The film will expand into additional theaters the next week, starting on Oct. 4.

Lars Ulrich who formed Metallica in 1981 together with James Hetfield, was effusive in his comments. In a press release, he said:
IMAX! It doesn't get bigger or cooler than that! For four guys in a rock band of average height, to get a chance to unleash their 3D film on IMAX screens the size of buildings across the country is a mind-blowing thought. "Hey look, Mom, I’m 50 feet tall (finally!)"

There is no better way to experience film and when you throw in the spectacle of music and sound this should amount to an unprecedented, unique and truly next level experience.
Greg Foster, Chairman and President of IMAX Entertainment commented:
Nimród Antal and Metallica have done a tremendous job capturing the essence of the band’s commanding live performances and have created a visual and aural cinematic spectacle. We believe the power of The IMAX Experience® will deliver for Metallica fans and ensure they feel every part of this journey.

The movie stars Metallica (of course), a cast of thousands (of their fans) and Dane DeHaan, who will be seen in the upcoming and currently filming "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" as Harry Osborn.

The film melds concert footage with a storyline involving a band crew member (played by DeHaan), who is sent out on a "mission" during Metallica's live set in front of a sold-out arena. While on his trek, he unexpectedly has his life turned completely upside down.

Aniston and Theroux delay wedding until the end of summer

Jennifer Aniston, 44, and fiance Justin Theroux, 41, have postponed their wedding. It's not, however, because they are splitting. Rather, the announcement that was made Wednesday stated that the postponement was made so that the couple could iron out details of the wedding.

The wedding had been scheduled for May, but a number of issues have cropped up. For one thing, the couple can’t agree on the size of the ceremony. Due to the problems, they have decided to push the wedding out to the end of the summer. After all, even though this is Jennifer's second wedding, every bride wants a perfect ceremony.

A source close to the couple said:
Jennifer and Justin have been totally relaxed about the wedding planning. They’re looking forward to the wedding, but they have different ideas about the actual wedding itself.

It’s not to do with them as a couple, they’re madly in love. Every time you see them they’ve got their arms around each other.

Jen wants something bigger with all their friends, Justin would just like something a bit more intimate.

At this point, we’re expecting the wedding to be at the end of the summer, just before Labor Day Weekend (Sept. 2).
One of the members of the ensemble "Friends" cast, Aniston and Theroux got engaged last summer. She recently admitted that she is so busy that she hasn’t even had time to select a wedding dress.

Despite the fact that Aniston wants a larger wedding, her prior wedding to first husband Brad Pitt -- in 2000 -- was deemed "stressful" by the actress.

Jennifer was previously said to have found her first wedding to Brad Pitt in 2000 “stressful”. Pitt wanted a huge wedding. As the source said,
They won’t be blowing millions on an over-the-top wedding with hundreds of people they barely know. Brad wanted that when she married him, and she got caught up in having a huge day.

It was ultimately so stressful that she couldn’t really take time to enjoy it. So it’s going to be small and low-key so they feel relaxed.
Aniston was married to actor Brad Pitt for five years, but they divorced in 2005.

Will Justin Bieber's neighborhood soon host a reality TV series

Justin Bieber's neighborhood, which was the site of some excitement, fast cars, and sputum -- at least according to Bieber's neighbor, may soon be the home of something besides people: As reported on Wednesday, a reality TV producer wants to shoot a reality TV show inside the gated community.

The report said that residents of "The Oaks" in Calabasas, Calif., have received a newsletter informing them about a "fresh, new docu-series with the working title of 'Calabasas 91302.'" In the newsletter, the producer of the proposed show said that the goal of the series is to give viewers "an inside look at the true Calabasas life and all that it entails."

Far more celebrities than just Justin Bieber reside there. The Oaks sees other residents such as Travis Barker, the Jacksons, Keyshawn Johnsonm Kourtney Kardashian, Shanna Moakler, Mitch Richmond, Romeo, and others.

As you might expect, the report said that the idea of a reality TV wasn't going over well with the community residents.
The producer said that he is still looking to cast four to five families for the show. He went so far as to remind folks, in the newsletter, that "Calabasas was the stage several years ago for MTV's 'The Newlyweds' starring Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey."

The first episode aired in August of 2003. The show ran for 41 episodes and three seasons. The last season started on Jan. 26, 2005, and the last episode aired on March 30, 2005.

The same year that the final episode was axed, though, the couple similarly axed their married. Simpson and Lachey were married on Oct. 26, 2002, but filed for divorce on Dec. 16, 2005.

'Teen Mom 2' Jenelle Evans back in jail

"Teen Mom 2" star Jenelle Evans is starring in something new: the series "Back to jail." Evans is back behind bars, according to a report issued on Tuesday.

According to the court documents obtained by TMZ, Evans was arrested in North Carolina on Tuesday for heroin possession. She has also been accused of assaulting her estranged husband, Courtland Rogers (in events that should surprise none who have been watching the fireworks between the couple).

Police arrived at her home following an alleged domestic dispute that Evans had with Rogers. However, that was just the start of things, as police discovered 12 bindles of heroin in her possession when they arrived. For those not in the know, a bindle is a small paper packet often used to store or carry drugs, particularly powdered ones.

In addition (there's more), Evans was found to be in illegal possession of the prescription painkiller Percocet, as well as plastic wrapping paper and a glass smoking pipe.

Police say Evans struck Rogers with a piece of furniture during a domestic dispute, which is where the assault charge stems from.

Rogers didn't get away unscathed, though. Police said he too was guilty of alleged assault. The authorities said that Rogers assaulted Jenelle by "hitting her on the neck and striking her with a closed fist on her head."

In addition, the family that possesses heroin together goes to jail together. Rogers was, police say, also charged with possession of heroin, along with drug paraphernalia. The reason, police said, is that the couple both denied the heroin was theirs, which is why they were both charged.

The 21-year-old Evans was also served with a warrant for failure to pay child support at the time of her arrest.

Evans is currently in custody pending a $10,000 bond for the possession charge and another $10,000 for the assault. Rogers' bond on the possession charge was $20,000.

Video emerges, showing Reese Witherspoon's arrest

A video showing Academy Award-winning actress Reese Witherspoon's arrest was posted to the Internet on Tuesday.

The video shows the actress, 37, being led out of an Atlanta, Ga., police cruiser in cuffs. She is then uncuffed and taken inside the police station for booking. She appears calm and cooperative, which belies the events ahead of her actual arrest, when the actress asked the police if they knew who she was, implying that she was attempting to get so-called "celebrity treatment."

She and her husband Jim Toth, who was driving, were pulled over after weaving in and out of lanes of traffic. Toth failed a sobriety test, and it was reported that his BAC was 0.139. Georgia's legal limit is 0.08.

Witherspoon later released a statement with a mea cupla. While saying that she could not comment on the arrest, due to the ongoing legal situation, she did admit her misconduct during the incident, saying:
Out of respect for the ongoing legal situation, I cannot comment on everything that is being reported right now. But I do want to say I clearly had one drink too many and I am deeply embarrassed about the things I said.

It was definitely a scary situation and I was frightened for my husband, but that was no excuse. I was disrespectful to the officer who was just doing his job. I have nothing but respect for the police and I am very sorry for my behavior.
Toth and Witherspoon married in 2011 and have a son together. Witherspoon has two children from her first husband, actor Ryan Phillippe (they were married from 1999 - 2007.

Ben Affleck to join the 'Live Below the Line' campaign, will live on $1.50 a day for a week

 photo Sweden.jpg
Two-time Academy Award winner Ben Affleck ("Good Will Hunting," "Argo") is about to hit the skids. The actor announced on Tuesday that he would be joining the the Live Below the Line poverty-awareness and fundraising challenge.

As part of that challenge, which is run by The Global Poverty Project, Affleck will attempt to live on $1.50 a day for food and drink for five days. That "challenge" is given to all those who sign up for Live Below the Line.

Affleck is known for his participation in both political and humanitarian causes.

Wikipedia says:
Live Below the Line is an annual anti-poverty campaign, which challenges participants to feed themselves on the equivalent of the extreme poverty line for five days.

The goal of Live Below the Line is to raise widespread awareness by enabling participants to gain a small insight into the hardships faced by those that live in extreme poverty.
The $1.50 figure comes from the World Bank’s definition of extreme poverty, with the program's website saying that approximately 1.4 billion of the world’s population of seven billion people live on less than $1.50 a day.

Michael Trainer, U.S. Country Director of The Global Poverty Project, said in a statement:
Last year we had over 15,000 people participate, and raised over $3 million. We're excited to leverage the support The Global Poverty Project has received from the campaign last year, and the Global Citizen Festival in Central Park.
Among the other celebrities that say they will participate are Sophia Bush, Josh Groban, Debi Mazar, and Hunter Biden.

The Live Below the Line campaign runs from next Monday, April 29, through Friday, May 3.

Comedy show pranks teens, asks girls to convert to Islam to win Justin Bieber tickets

 photo Sweden.jpg
Norway’s Ann-Kat Hærland comedy show pranked five teenage girls, telling them that if they "converted" to Islam the would receive tickets to a Justin Bieber concert. Reports of the stunt surfaced on Monday.

The stunt made the girls remove their make-up, put on hijabs and recite Islamic phrases in Arabic. In addition, the show made the group recite:
Justin Bieber is impure and probably gay.
The show’s host, Avisen Dagen, explained the reason behind the prank:
We wanted to find out how far Norwegian "Beliebers" are willing to go for tickets to one of Bieber’s concerts.
Bieber was in Norway just last week as part of his world tour. He was, in fact, joined in Oslo by on-again, off-again girlfriend Selena Gomez. She is still traveling with him.

Bishop Halvor Nordhaug, from the Norwegian Lutheran Church, told Dagen he felt the stunt, which was aired on TV Norge was an example of a lack of understanding of how much faith means for many people.
This is an example of an idea where irony and lack of respect turns into something tragic. I believe this [the contest] is a foolish statement and it shows a lack of respect for what faith means.
Svein Tore Bergestuen, the network's head of communications, stated that he was uninvolved in the production of the episode.
The crew have the freedom to create a funny TV show. It is not up to us to question their judgment about what is funny and what is not.
It's unclear if the girls received tickets or not.

Fan video shows Gomez, Bieber exiting Stockholm hotel as Jelena tour continues

 photo Sweden.jpg
A video posted Monday shows Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber leaving the Grand Hotel in Stockholm, Sweden together. As was noted last week, Gomez had jetted to Oslo, Norway, to join Bieber on his current tour.

In the short video, Bieber can be seen walking out of the hotel, with Gomez by his side along with his entourage. They all quickly walk to his awaiting tour bus.

Jelena, as the couple has been nicknamed, appears to be back.

Although she first reunited with him in Oslo, she then continued on his tour with him to Copenhagen, and then to Stockholm, as can be seen below.

Although Gomez seemed to be quite clear that she was done with Bieber, going so far as to tell David Letterman that she was single again -- and even admitting that she made Bieber cry -- sources also say that she was lonely, and went back to Justin for that reason.

Apparently, as long as she was busy with her "Spring Breakers" promotions, she was fine. Once, however, that was over, Gomez had to deal with the reality of life without Bieber.

Whatever Bieber did to chase Gomez away -- reportedly, multiple times in 2012 with the last break-up occurring just prior
to the New Year -- he's ready to be all Selena, now. A source said:
Justin is not listening to anyone and is only interested in Selena and being with her.
All that being said, Selena is not listening to anyone, either.
Selena’s friends are furious that she’s giving Justin another chance. They’ve been trying to warn her that he’s no good for her and that she should stay away from him, but she just loves the attention he gives her.

Justin Bieber posts, swiftly deletes Instagram photo of reunion with Selena Gomez

What's posted to the Internet, stays on the Internet. Despite what some call "celebrity privilege," even a star as big as Justin Bieber can't stop that from happening. So when Bieber posted an image of Selena Gomez nuzzling his face, as reports said on Monday.

The picture, uploaded to Instagram (above) is just the latest on-again report for the off-again, on-again couple, who broke up for (again) over the pre-New Year's Eve holidays. It was reported earlier that Gomez flew into Oslo, Norway, to visit Bieber on tour.

As for why he deleted it so quickly, a source said:
Selena didn’t know Justin was going to post that picture on Instagram and squirmed when he did. Posting it was his way of marking his territory again and showing her who wears the pants, but ultimately he just wants to keep her happy so he immediately deleted it.
Marking territory? A power play? A way of showing off? Those might seem a stretch unless Gomez saw him do it and immediately said "delete it," as in right after he posted it.

A source said, about the Oslo visit:
They were holding hands, hugging, and they kissed on the lips. They looked really in love, like no fights ever happened before. It definitely looked like they were back together.
Another source said:
They have a crazy connection. They just can't seem to break their connection. It can be intense.
It seems like a strange change of mind for Gomez. She seemed over Bieber, even going so far as to tell David Letterman on air that she was single and that she had made Bieber cry, presumably by breaking up with him.

Don't think that once Bieber left Norway, Gomez went back to her life. She continued on to his next stop, Denmark, with him, and on to Sweden, as well.

Reportedly, she was fine as long as promotional events for her movie, "Spring Breakers" was ongoing. However, once that was over, Gomez realized she missed Bieber. A source said:
She was lonely. That is why she reached out to Justin again.
Gomez recently announced a 56-stop world tour, beginning in August. It will be interesting to see if Bieber will travel with her.

Rookie news anchor sees his first and last moments on-air after uttering expletives

A North Dakota news anchor was fired right after being introduced. The problem was that the first words he uttered -- on Sunday -- included expletives that the FCC is not fond of.

A.J. Clemente was introduced yesterday, his first day on the job. It was also his last day as an anchor for NBC affiliate KFYR.

For some reason, as an announcer introduced the show, Clemente was heard saying "Gay f*cking sh*t."  It was just a whisper as an announcer introduced the show. Still, that was enough.  He was suspended for using profanity and his coanchor, Van Tieu, opened up the later 10:00 p.m. news hour with an apology.
We were caught off guard and [Clemente] didn't realize his microphone was on. And while that was no excuse -- we do train our reporters to always assume that any microphone is live at any time -- unfortunately we cannot take back what was said. But, we do apologize and hope that you may forgive us and rest assured, that something like this will not happen again.
Notably, Clemente did not intend to say "gay." Instead, as he tweeted later,
I just want to say that I did not say the word gay, I was trying to pronounce the London Marathon winners name Tsegaye Kebede.
It's possible that his reference to Tsegaye Kebede wsa the reason he uttered "f*cking sh*t." Clemente was fired on Monday.

Tweeted: First image of Storm in 'X-Men: Days of Future Past'

The news that Halle Berry was expecting her second child, this one with her fiance Olivier Martinez, gave some X-Men fans the equivalent of an attack by Mastermind. Berry herself put any fears to rest, though, and on Monday we received an official image of Halle Berry as Storm in "X-Men: Days of Future Past."

The image (above) comes via the Twitter account of Bryan Singer, who is helming the movie. The post said:
Storm watch #HalleBerry #XMen #DaysOfFuturePast pic.twitter.com/fDy16oX185
When she re-affirmed her role in the film, Berry said:
Storm probably won't be as badass as she was going to be because we won't be able to do any fighting or flying or things like that. She'll be different than we originally planned her to be but I still think she'll be an integral part of this new X-Men movie.
Those who recall that storyline will remember it spanned "The Uncanny X-Men" issues 141 and 142, published in 1981. Written by Chris Claremont, it was drawn by John Byrne and inked by Terry Austin.

In the classic comic book storyline, "Days of Future Past," readers were cast into an alternate future which was triggered by the assassination of Senator Robert Kelly by The Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. That incident led to members of mutantkind being either killed or imprisoned in internment camps.

In the comics, that included those who were not X-Men, but were mutants, such as Franklin Richards, the son of Reed and Sue Richards of the Fantastic Four.

In an attempt to prevent the event, an older Kitty Pryde (Shadowcat) transfers her mind into the past and a younger, present-day Kitty Pryde.

As the story opens, only a few X-Men remain alive: Kitty Pride, Wolverine, Storm , and Colossus. As Kitty Pryde attempts to stop the assassination of Senator Kelly, in the alternate future, all -- even Wolverine -- are killed. Despite his adamantium skeleton and rapid healing factor, Wolverine is vaporized by a Sentinel, too fast even for his healing process to cope with. Only his metal skeleton is left behind.

However, Kitty Pryde's mission succeeds, and that dystopian future is gone, never to occur.

Rachel Summers, who took the name Phoenix, also traveled back in time as part of the story. Despite being from an alternate future, she stayed, and became a member of the X-Men.

It's unclear how the movie will be fleshed out, but the mix of past and present-day X-Men actors points to a mix of "First Class" characters and original X-Men trilogy characters. In addition to Berry, the cast includes Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Michael Fassbender, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, Peter Dinklage, Omar Sy, Daniel Cudmore, Adan Canto, Fan Bingbing and Boo Boo Stewart.

The sequel is scheduled for a release on July 18, 2014.

'X Factor' gives Khloe Kardashian the boot

There was talk earlier that "X Factor" would jettison Britney Spears and Demi Lovato. Spears did leave, but of her own volition. Lovato, though, was re-signed to another season. On Monday, however, yet another celebrity -- or faux celebrity -- exited the show, as Khloe Kardashian was given the boot.

A statement issued by "X Factor" producers on Monday didn't go into details, but simply acknowledged that Kardashian would be leaving. It said:
Khloe Kardashian will not be returning to co-host "The X Factor." We really enjoyed working with her and wish her all the best in her future endeavors.
The other "X Factor" co-host, though, passed his tests, so to speak. At the same time that they were giving Khloe Kardashian the boot, the producers of "The X Factor" were reaffirming their ties with Mario Lopez.Simon Cowell said,
I’m thrilled Mario is back for Season Three of "The X Factor." Hosting a live show and keeping the judges -- especially Demi [Lovato] -- in line is not an easy job, but Mario is a pro and we are glad he’s coming back.
Lopez himself responded with the following statement:
I’m looking forward to returning to "The X Factor' team." We’re coming back stronger and better than ever and I'm excited to check out all the new talent.
To this point, "X Factor" seems to have a penchant for high turnover of talent. Of course, even Fox's "other" talent show, "American Idol," seems to be having that issue, too.

It will be interesting to see who Simon Cowell manages to sign as a judge for the show's new season. X Factor returns to Fox this fall.

Official 'Spider-Man 2' set images reach Twitter

Official images of Max Dillon (aka Spider-Man villian "Electro", played by Jamie Foxx) and Harry Osborn (Dane DeHann) were released to Twitter on Sunday (1, 2).

It's not as though the studio released these images, but the former (Dillon) came from director Marc Webb and the latter directly from DeHann himself.

Earlier, both set footage and images showed Foxx as Electro, after his transformation into an electrical super-villain. There, he appears to have blue skin with veins that pop out in a lightning-like manner.

“The Amazing Spider-Man 2″ stars Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker / Spider-Man, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, Jamie Foxx as Max Dillon / Electro, Dane DeHaan as Harry Osborn, Shailene Woodley as Mary Jane Watson, Colm Feore, Felicity Jones, Paul Giamatti, and Sally Field. The movie is slated to release on May 2, 2014. Here is the official synopsis:
In “The Amazing Spider-Man 2,” for Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield), life is busy – between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can’t come quickly enough. Peter hasn’t forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen’s father to protect her by staying away –- but that’s a promise he just can’t keep.

Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.
In the comics, Max Dillon was given powers when he was struck by lightning while holding live, high-tension wires and a wound reel of one-inch cable. Electro can generate massive amounts of electricity.

A slideshow, including the new images, can be seen here.
