Filming for 'Iron Man 3' at the TLC Chinese Theater

"Iron Man 3" began filming last May, with the majority of "Iron Man 3" filming done in North Carolina, followed by a brief shoot in Beijing in December. It's still finishing up, though, and on Monday night, the production company took to Hollywood to "destroy" the historic Grauman's Chinese Theatre (now the newly-renamed “TCL Chinese Theatre”) and Hollywood Boulevard.

Hollywood Orchard Suites, which is located just behind Grauman's Chinese Theatre, tipped the public to "Iron Man 3’s" production plans with a post on their Facebook page:
Film crews plan to shoot wide-angled shots from cranes positioned high overhead "to capture the full scope, color and liveliness of Hollywood" while they "blow up" Grauman’s Chinese Theatre. There will be flashes of light, debris being propelled out of the courtyard towards the street and about 30 cars driving by with obligatory fender benders.

The shoot will cause street closures on Hollywood Blvd., between Highland Ave. and Orange Dr., Highland Ave. and McCadden Pl., beginning on Monday at 7 p.m. through 4 a.m. on Tuesday and possible increased noise from generators, cranes, film crews, etc.
That post brought out the public, resulting in cell phone images and YouTube uploads.

"Iron Man 3" is directed by Shane Black, and stars Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Stephanie Szostak, James Badge Dale, Jon Favreau and Ben Kingsley. The film will hit U.K. theaters on April 26, 2013, and U.S. theaters on May 3, 2013.

Kingsley will play the key role of the villain, The Mandarin.
