Their taste for 'witch blood' revealed in new 'Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters' trailer

A new trailer for the upcoming film "Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters" has been unveiled by Paramount Pictures, and the video, released on Monday, gives viewers a little more detail with respect to the siblings, who are now grown up.

The backstory revealed by the new trailer is that the siblings received a "taste for witch blood" during their original adventure with the witch and the gingerbread house. Given that, the brother and sister grow up to become bounty hunters, warriors fighting against evil witches.

The story takes us some 15 years after the original story. Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton star as Hansel and Gretel. Famke Janssen, Peter Stormare, Derek Mears and Thomas Mann are also featured in the Tommy Wirkola-directed movie.

Of course, the movie takes some liberties with the aging process. Since Renner is 41, that would mean Hansel was 26 during the original story (ahem).

Here's how the plot is described by Wikipedia:
Catching up with Hansel (Jeremy Renner) and Gretel (Gemma Arterton) 15 years after the traumatic incident involving a gingerbread house, the siblings have evolved into vengeful bounty hunters dedicated to exterminating witches. Over the years, the siblings became expert hunters, famous for their proficiency at tracking and taking down their prey. Although still recovering from their ordeal, their work is relatively easy as for an unknown reason harmful spells and curses do not work well against them.

The Mayor of Augsburg recruits them to rid the town and nearby forests of an evil sorceress (Famke Janssen) who is planning to sacrifice many local children at the witches' gathering during the upcoming "Blood Moon" night in two days time. To make things worse, the duo also has to deal with the brutal Sheriff Berringer (Peter Stormare) who has taken power in Augsburg and conducts a very indiscriminate witch-hunt of his own.

We've seen a different trailer earlier, and even a red band trailer. A red band trailer, for those unaware, is a trailer that is approved only for "restricted" or "mature" audiences. These sorts of trailers can only be shown before R-rated, NC-17-rated, or unrated movies. They may include nudity, profanity or other material deemed inappropriate for children.

The "red band" referred to by the term indicates that an all-red graphic will be played before the trailer begins.

"Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters" debuts on Jan. 25 in the U.S., and on Feb. 22 in the U.K.

Ann Curry seeking way out of NBC contract

Ann Curry, who was ousted from "Today," but was given a special assignment as the National and International Correspondent/Anchor for NBC News and the Anchor at Large for the Today show, wants completely out of NBC News, according to a Monday report. Curry apparently wants to move to CNN, where her former boss, Jeff Zucker, will take over the reins of the now struggling news channel in February.

A source close to the situation said:
Ann wants out of her contract, big time. She has formally asked her attorney to explore exit options from the network. However, NBC bosses have indicated they are unwilling to release Ann from the contract. If Ann were to just quit, there is a non-compete clause, which would prohibit her from working for another news outlet for two years.

Ann's lawyer feels that there is a very strong case to be made that NBC has breached terms of the deal because Curry was demoted from TODAY. Furthermore, Ann has basically been sequestered from appearing on the network. Yes, she has been doing some work that has been assigned to her, but it hasn't been steady.
Curry was ousted from "Today" after the daytime show's ratings flagged. However, since her departure, things have not improved significantly. In fact, ratings have dropped further, allowing ABC’s rival "Good Morning America" to capture the no 1 spot, and with Curry gone, Matt Lauer has become the whipping boy on the show.

The insider added that the continued fall in "Today's" ratings have:
... vindicated Ann Curry, because the numbers just don't lie. She wasn't responsible for the show tanking in the ratings. Ann doesn't like the fact that the show isn't back on top, but her on-air presence wasn't the problem. In fact, the show lost more viewers after Ann departed the show.

As long as Ann remains at NBC, it will be a constant reminder to everyone of how badly the situation was handled. It would be so much better for NBC, Ann, and CNN if she was let out of her contract. It would be a new beginning and a chance for all parties involved to move on, once and for all.
It would seem, though, that a Curry move to CNN would benefit that network, but certainly wouldn't help NBC at all. It's unclear, in fact, what NBC can do to stop the bleeding at "Today."

Meanwhile, it's said that Zucker wants to install Curry in the network's 8 p.m. slot, currently occupied by Anderson Cooper.

Jessica Simpson tweets baby bump photo

Kim Kardashian (and Kanye West's) pregnancy is the biggest baby news of the day, but what with celebrity over-sharing on social media sites like Twitter, we have a nice look at what Jessica Simpson has been hiding: a nice-sized baby bump.

Simpson did not reveal she had a "baby on board" until Christmas day, also on Twitter, but now that she has done so, she's gone all in, with a tweet on Sunday that shows off her growing baby bump, displayed well in a bikini photo taken while she's on vacation in Hawaii with fiance Eric Johnson and their daughter, Maxwell.

"Bumpin' and Proud!," the tweet said, as the soon-to-be two-time mother-to-be wrote on Twitter. The announcement of her pregnancy, which had been rumored previously, was also made on Twitter. In another tweeted photo, Simpson showed Maxwell on the beach with "Big Sis" written in the sand beneath her, a clue to her second child.

Simpson received thanks from many after that, including Weight Watchers, which Simpson used to lose the 70 pounds she gained with Maxwell's pregnancy.

Simpson has been sharing a number of images on Twitter, of late, including the second in this slideshow, which showed her just a few days ago with an ample bosom (likely helped by the pregnancy) and nicely toned legs.

'Hitler in Argentina' documentary a life for him after World War II

It's been rumored since time-immemorial, or at least since 1945. Yet a new documentary opens up the rumor mill again, saying that Adolph Hitler, did not commit suicide in his Berlin bunker as normally believed, but instead lived his days out in Argentina.

Speaking on Sunday, director/producer Noam Shalev and researcher Pablo Weschler revealed their reasons for believing that their evidence proves -- though not to 100 percent certainty -- that Hitler did not die in 1945.

Shalev admitted that
We will never know the truth. But there is enough evidence to build an alternative theory about what happened to Hitler.
Weschler added,
No one believed the Russians’ story of Hitler’s suicide in the bunker. As early as the summer of 1945, there were headlines asking, "Where is Hitler?" all over the world.
In the documentary, "Hitler in Argentina," the filmmakers say that Hitler lived out his last days in an luxurious Argentinian hotel. Their new documentary is set to be released sometime in 2013.

The urge to complete the documentary came with recently declassified FBI documents. Shalev and Weschler had ong believed that British intelligence officer and historian Hugh Trevor-Roper’s investigation into Hitler’s death was “unprofessional,” since the Russians did not allow access to many forensic investigators.

Weschler said:
In those days, the FBI, not the CIA, was responsible for South America. And in declassified documents, we see that the FBI took very seriously the possibility that Hitler fled to Argentina.
Additionally, the documentary notes that the FBI was so concerned that the possibility that Hitler was in South America was viable, the agency created a special task force to investigate it.

The filmmakers believe that they can determine Hitler’s exact whereabouts after World War II. They used a book entitled "Hitler’s Escape," written by Italian journalist Patrick Burnside as a guide for their movie.

For Shalev and Weschler, the most significant evidence comes in the form of DNA testing done on Hitler’s skull fragments in 2009, fragments that were recovered from the Berlin bunker. Weschler said:
They showed that they couldn’t have been Hitler’s skull because they were from a woman under 40. The more you look into it, the less credible the official version becomes, and the more plausible an alternative theory seems.
It's true, though, that Eva Braun was only 33 at the time of her reported death, in the same Berlin bunker. Could the DNA evidence simply have been mixed up?

There is more evidence, Weschler said:
The Eden Hotel in La Falda, Cordoba [in Argentina] was owned by Ida and Walter Eichhorn, who were close friends of Hitler. Hitler sent them a Mercedes Benz as a gift. It was the first Benz in Argentina.
Among the FBI documentation that Weschler and Shalev accessed was an FBI letter from September of 1945, in which the agency said it believed the Eichhorns would provide Hitler shelter if he ever needed it. Weschler also claims to have found former hotel employees who say they met Hitler and waited on him after the war.

Coincidentally near-immaculate: Kim and Kanye conceived baby near the Vatican

In this time of the Christmas holiday, many think about the immaculate conception of Jesus Christ. Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have confirmed their pregnancy, and while it was not an immaculate conception, the location they conceived their baby at is amazingly coincidental.

Sources say that Kanye's sperm fertilized Kim's egg during the couple's trip to Italy in October, one they took to celebrate Kim's 32nd birthday.

Since Kim Kardashian is reportedly 12 weeks along -- the perfect time to reveal the pregnancy, after the first trimester -- so the arithmetic works out. Of course, we doubt the couple actually did the deed in the Vatican, but they did tour the Vatican, along with the Colosseum, and the Sistine Chapel.

Kardashian's blog lists the night that the couple's baby was conceived as the no. 1 moment on her top 10 best moments of 2012. Meanwhile, no. 2 is her couple's Italy trip.

First confirmation on the pregnancy came last night when Kayne West was appearing in Atlantic City. He emoted on the couple's baby while onstage. Later, multiple tweets from family members, and a blog post by Kim Kardashian also confirmed the pregnancy.

Confirmed: Kim K. and Kanye expecting a baby

Despite numerous denials from various sources, Kim Kardashian herself has confirmed the news: She -- and boyfriend Kanye West -- are expecting a child. The denials came from multiple sources, and so did the confirmations.

First, Kanye West himself spilled the beans on Sunday night. Onstage Sunday night in Atlantic City (embedded video below), he sang, "God brought us a whole new plan, baby. 'Cause now you're having my baby."

As Kanye transitioned into the next song, he asked the crowd, "Can we make some noise for my baby mama [Kim Kardashian, obviously] right quick?"

Shortly after West's announcement, Kourtney Kardashian tweeted, "Been wanting to shout from the rooftops with joy and now I can."

Khloe Kardashian also tweeted, "Keeping secrets is hard with so many family members! Especially when you are so freaking excited!!!"

Kris Jenner tweeted simply: "Im a happy girl !!!!!!!!! Wowza!"

Kylie Jenner tweeted: "Congrats to this beautiful couple. I love you guys đŸ‘¶"

[A slideshow can be seen here]

Meanwhile, Kim herself waited until New Year's Eve day to chime in. On her own website she posted:
It’s true!! Kanye and I are expecting a baby. We feel so blessed and lucky and wish that in addition to both of our families, his mom and my dad could be here to celebrate this special time with us. Looking forward to great new beginnings in 2013 and to starting a family. Happy New Year!!! Xo
Sources say Kim Kardashian is 12 weeks pregnant, which is typically when most doctors say it's safe to announce the news. Apparently, as seen in the tweets above, several members of the clan have been in on the secret.

It's interesting that the truth is now out, as the denials were strong and strident. One insider made the following statement: “If Kim was pregnant, I would know because Kris [Jenner] would announce it to the world. I know she wasn’t feeling well on Christmas," adding "I do know that Kim wants to be a mom, but she first wants to get married or at least engaged."

There is no news about an engagement, and certainly none about a wedding, so the question is: Is the couple secretly engaged or are they planning a shotgun wedding before the baby's birth? Time will tell, and there is still plenty of it.

'The Hobbit' holds off 'Django,' 'Les Miserables' to three-peat atop the box office

"The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" has achieved a three-peat. For the third consecutive week since it debuted, the "Lord of the Rings" prequel finished atop the weekend box office figures which were released on Sunday.
The first film in the trilogy of "Hobbit" films finished its third weekend with a $32.9 million take. That brought its domestic total for three weeks to $220.7 million.

In second place was the new film, "Django Unchained." It took in $30.7 million, and has an overall take of $64 million (it opened on Christmas Day). Notably, it had a higher take per theater than "The Hobbit" (at $10,195 vs. $8,029). Directed by Quentin Tarentino, the slave-era western stars Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz, Leonardo DiCaprio, Kerry Washington, and Samuel L. Jackson.

In third was the other new film, the musical "Les Miserables." It opened on Christmas Day, as did "Django Unchained," and had a weekend take of $28 million. Interestingly enough, it has a higher overall take than "Django," with $67.5 million overall. It also had a higher per theater take than "The Hobbit," but lower than "Django," at $9,981.

The Victor Hugo-based musical, which saw its songs filmed live rather than using the more traditional lip-syncing process, stars Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Amanda Seyfried, Sacha Baron Cohen and Helena Bonham Carter.

Fourth was the week's other new film, "Parental Guidance." The family comedy, which stars Billy Crystal, Bette Midler, and Marisa Tomei, took in $14.8 million this weekend and has an overall take of $29.6 million. Closing out the top five was Tom Cruise's new film, "Jack Reacher." It took in $14 million and has an overall take of $44.7 million.

The top 10 movies are listed below.
  1. (1 LW), The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, 3 weeks
  2. (N), Django Unchained
  3. (N), Les Miserables
  4. (N), Parental Guidance
  5. (2 LW), Jack Reacher, 2 weeks
  6. (3 LW), This Is 40, $13.2 million, $37.1 million overall, 2 weeks

No Lindsay Lohan on 'Celebrity Big Brother': Sources

Lindsay Lohan is currently in the U.K., and that has led to rampant rumors that the trouble actress is about to appear on "Celebrity Big Brother." While admittedly it would probably stir up huge ratings if she did appear on the show, sources say: forget about it.

In fact, the sources (cited on Sunday) said that the idea of Lohan appearing on the reality TV show are "completely untrue" and "total nonsense."

Common sense points to that, as a matter of fact. As one of the sources said (one who was obviously paying attention to LiLo's legal issues), how could Lohan be locked into a home for weeks while filming "Celebrity Big Brother" when she has to show up in court on Jan. 15.

Lohan has to appear in court on Jan. 15 as a result of her probation being revoked due to lying to the police over her Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) crash. She initially told the authorities that she was not drying the Porsche, but she was.

Celebrity Big Brother is described as follows:
Celebrity Big Brother is a British reality television game show in which a number of celebrity contestants live in an isolated house trying to avoid being evicted by the public with the aim of winning a large cash prize being donated to the winner's nominated charity at the end of the run.

The program has aired annually since 2001 (apart from in 2003, 2004 and 2008, when the show did not air) until 2012, when it was announced that two series would air each year.
Lohan will be spending New Year's Eve in London, but reportedly will only go to a quiet dinner, then return to her hotel room and eschew heavy duty partying.

Admittedly, Lohan could use the money, but it wouldn't seem that she would be paid enough to make it worth her while. Perhaps we are wrong, though, as most believe she is no longer an A-list actress.

'Was that racist?': A lightning-round look at some GOP FUBARs

It's nearly 2013, and with that, MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry took a quick lightning-round look at the year and asked her guests to help her answer the question: "Was that racist?"

Her guests were Elon James White, of This Week in Blackness, Jamie Kilstein, co-host of Citizen Radio, comedian Maysoon Zayid, and comedian Molly Knefel.

The first example was a famous photo from January, when Arizona governor Jan Brewer met U.S. president Barack Obama on the tarmack, and was showing sticking her finger in his face aggressively and seeming to shout at him angrily. She said she felt "threatened."

“I was surprised she didn’t bring in Sheriff Joe [Arpaio] to truck him away,” said Kilstein.

“And it’s racist only because of the idea that she said had to go off because she felt threatened. You felt threatened by the most visible negro in the world right now?” White said.

“I just heard Jan Brewer and slowly put up my card,” Kilstein said.

“I put it up for Arizona,” Zayid, who attended Arizona State University, said.

In January, Newt Gingrich said that if one school janitor were replaced with 30 kids for the same pay, “those 30 kids would be a lot less likely to drop out, they would actually have money in their pocket, they’d learn to show up for work.”

Kilstein said "he [Gingrich] probably meant it as racist, but he probably just hates poor people."

Knefel called it “intersectionally oppressive” of low-income people and minorities.

Zayid called it racist because Gingrich said "Palestinians don't exist."

Meanwhile, White said “I didn’t call racism on this, I called a-hole.”

In August, Mitt Romney said to a crowd of supporters, “I love being home in this place Ann and I were raised, where both of us were born. No one’s ever asked to see my birth certificate, they know that this is the place that we were born and raised.”

Zayid called it not racist, just “utter stupidity” and a “complete disconnect with the fact that that’s the most inappropriate thing he could have ever said," adding that it was an “old, played-out joke.”

White said, “If you want to argue that it plays into racist tones, yes, I’d argue yes, he did that. But do I think that Mitt Romney that day was racist? No, again, that was a douche move. For you to get up there, the thing is, you could see he was feeling it.

"Because when he said it, he literally stopped as if he was The Rock and smelled the air around him as he made this joke and everyone clapped. Now if you asked me is that audience racist, I don’t know.”

Kilstein disagreed, saying it was racist because he wouldn't have said that about Joe Biden and Romney was “clearly otherizing.”

In the most recent example, just this week, John McCain had his picture taken with a person in a giant Oreo costume at college football bowl game.

“It’s just weird,” White said. “Unless he tweeted out the picture and said, ‘Me and Obama.’”

The panel didn't really delve further than that, but Harris-Perry did discuss fried Oreos (delicious). Watch it.

Beatles 'divorce' due to fears of becoming McCartney's band: Ono

"It was 20 years ago today" goes the song "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band." It isn't exactly twenty years, but a twenty-five-year old interview Yoko Ono did with famed rock journalist Joe Smith surfaced for the first time on Friday, and it's shed some light on the break-up of the Fab Four.

To be clear, historically, many blamed Yoko Ono for the break-up of the Beatles. In the interview, she didn't see it that way. Instead, she blamed the split on the band members themselves, and specifically on Paul McCartney.

In the 1987 interview, Ono said:
The Beatles were getting very independent. Each one of them [was] getting independent. John [Lennon], in fact, was not the first who wanted to leave the Beatles.

[We saw] Ringo [Starr] one night with Maureen [Starkey Tigrett], and he came to John and me and said he wanted to leave. George [Harrison] was next, and then John.

Paul [McCartney] was the only one trying to hold the Beatles together. But the other three thought Paul would hold the Beatles together as his band. They were getting to be like Paul's band, which they didn't like.
To be honest, the Beatles stayed together for a long time. Frequently, a band or group in which one person is more of a star than the others simply falls apart, as the superstar wants independence or creative differences take hold. Whatever the reason, one can look at groups such as The Supremes, The Commodores, The Go-Go's, The Bangles and more to see successful bands that couldn't stay together.

On the other hand, there are bands that have seemed to have stayed together forever, such as the Rolling Stones.

While many believe Ono lead to the Beatles' split, Ono herself said the group's break-up put a strain on her relationship with Lennon. She said that she believed that Lennon missed the band, and "expected all that to be replaced by me."

The release of the information, which came via the Joe Smith collection at the Library of Congress, is ironically timed. In October of this year, McCartney himself told David Frost that Ono "did not break the group up" because it was "already breaking up."

You can listen to Ono here (Part one, Part two).

No LiLo partying on New Year's Eve

You might almost think she's got a court appearance coming up soon (she does; on Jan. 15). Lindsay Lohan vowed on Saturday to stay at home on New Year's Eve.

Sources say that it's not just about the court date. Well, maybe it is. The sources say that Lohan wants to start the year off year off, including making a good impression on the judge head of her Jan. 15 hearing. There will be no parties and no clubs on New Year's Eve.

However, that doesn't necessarily mean no drinking. Of course, that is the intention. On the other hand, there were earlier reports indicating that LiLo was drinking up to two liters of vodka daily. The drinking binge, it was reported, was due to anxiety over her recent troubles, including her legal ones (ahem, Jan. 15) and her financial ones (the IRS recently seized her bank accounts over unpaid tax bills).

By the way, home doesn't mean home. LiLo is in London, where she is currently visiting. She will reportedly have a small, quiet dinner in London (no wine?) and then head back to her hotel, where she will wait for the ball to drop with family and friends.

We will, of course, believe it when we see it.

Lohan's Jan. 15 appearance was set when, in mid-December, Commissioner Jane Godfrey, revoked the troubled actress' probation. LiLo was also arraigned on the misdemeanors that were reported earlier, associated with her June 2012 auto accident in which she allegedly lied to police officers after her Porsche hit a truck on the Pacific Coast Highway.

Originally, Lohan told police she wasn't driving the Porsche, but it was later revealed that she was the indeed person behind the wheel at the time of the accident. That event -- lying to the police -- is what caused her probation to be revoked.

She could face up to eight months in jail over those misdemeanors. However, if sent to jail -- not prison -- we know that because of jail overcrowding she could be out in hours.

100 fans to dance onstage with Beyonce in Super Bowl half-time show

Do you love Beyonce? Do you love football, specifically NFL football and the Super Bowl? Well, then, Pepsi has a deal for you.

100 fans will join Beyonce onstage during her half-time appearance at the Super Bowl in February, all because of a promotional contest announced on Sunday. Pepsi asks fans to submit photos -- strangely, not videos -- of themselves dancing. 50 fans (and an accompanying partner) will then be selected to show off their moves alongside Beyonce.

In addition, the pictures will be used in a television advertisement trailing Beyonce's performance on Feb. 3, 2013 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans.

The contest page is available here. The photo contest on Jan. 11 for those who want a chance to appear onstage with Beyonce. Those interested only in submitted their picture for possible inclusion in the ad have until Jan. 21.

Here are Pepsi's suggestions for best entering the contest:
  1. Look at today’s picture
  2. Take one like it
  3. Send it in
It's pretty simple.

Beyonce recently signed a multi-year deal with Pepsi reportedly worth $50 million. The deal will see her starring in a new Pepsi ad, and her face will also appear on a limited run of Pepsi cans.

In addition, Pepsi will sponsor Beyonce's 2013 tour and the promotional campaign will coincide with the release of her new album, which is also expected in 2013.

Reportedly, the R&B superstar will release new material prior to her Super Bowl half-time performance and she will also apparently have new music to share with NFL fans during the show.

Piers Morgan to deport himself if America doesn't change its gun control laws

Writing a Sunday opinion piece in The Daily Mail, CNN host Piers Morgan took on his critics and hammered home his message about gun control using logic, statistics, and fact.

He also spoke to those who have written online petitions to get him deported over his pro-gun control statements.

Among the statements made in Morgan's lengthy piece, are some common sense ones:
This [America's love of guns and the belief that the Second Amendment means anyone can have as many guns as they want -- including guns that should be used only in wartime] has led to the absurd scenario where I can’t legally buy six packets of Sudafed in an American supermarket, or a chocolate Kinder egg, or various French cheeses, because they are all deemed a health risk.

Yet I can saunter into Walmart – America’s version of Tesco – and help myself to an armful of AR-15 assault rifles and magazines that can carry up to 100 bullets at a time.

That weapon has now been used in the last four mass shootings in America – at the Aurora cinema, a shopping mall in Oregon, Sandy Hook school, and the most recent, a dreadful attack on firemen in New York.

The AR-15 looks and behaves like a military weapon and should be confined to the military and police force. No member of the public has any need for a death machine that can fire up to six rounds a second when modified and can clear a 100-bullet magazine (as used in Aurora) within a minute.

The only apparent reason anyone seems to offer up is that using such weapons is "fun." One gun-rights guy I interviewed last week even said admiringly that the AR-15 was "the Ferrari of guns."
He also alluded to the his on-air statement that brought the wrath of petition writers down on his head, despite the fact that -- as a legal resident of the U.S. -- he was exercising his First Amendment rights:
In the days following Sandy Hook, I interviewed a number of gun-rights representatives and grew increasingly furious as they trotted out these hackneyed old disingenuous lines.

Finally, I erupted at one of them, a man with the unfortunate name of Larry Pratt, who runs the Gun Owners of America lobbying group.

"You," I eventually declared, "are an unbelievably stupid man."

And that was the catalyst for the full wrath of the gun lobby to crash down on my British head.
Pratt was possibly not stupid. Instead, Pratt may simply have been well-paid. The goal of the NRA and other gun lobbies are to advance gun sales.

Morgan added something always ignored by both gun owners and gun lobbies, which is to say, statistics:
The "more guns, less crime" argument is utter nonsense. Britain, after Dunblane, introduced some of the toughest gun laws in Europe, and we average just 35 gun murders a year.

Japan, which has the toughest gun control in the world, had just TWO in 2006 and averages fewer than 20 a year. In Australia, they’ve not had a mass shooting since stringent new laws were brought in after 35 people were murdered in the country’s worst-ever mass shooting in Tasmania in 1996. Fewer guns equals less gun murder. This is not a "pinko liberal" hypothesis. It’s a simple fact.
Finally, he addressed his views as a father and as someone appalled at the fact that after all the mass shootings America has had (Columbine, Tucson, Aurora, Virginia Tech, Newtown, etc.), gun control remains a four-letter word. Generally, it's something -- as Morgan says -- that hangs around for about a week or so after a mass shooting, then disappears. He said:
In conclusion, I can spare those Americans who want me deported a lot of effort by saying this: If you don’t change your gun laws to at least try to stop this relentless tidal wave of murderous carnage, then you don’t have to worry about deporting me.

Although I love the country as a second home and one that has treated me incredibly well, I would, as a concerned parent first – and latterly, of a one-year-old daughter who may attend an American elementary school like Sandy Hook in three years’ time – seriously consider deporting myself.

Police say one of Katt Williams' guns was recently reported stolen

It's true: Katt Williams has surpassed Lindsay Lohan to be the celebrity most often associated with the phrase "train wreck." Police say that one of the guns seized from the comedian's house during his Friday arrest was recently reported stolen.

Williams was arrested on Friday on charges of child endangerment after an investigation from the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services concluded that the numerous guns and illegal drugs in his house created a safety hazard for his children.

Williams doesn't agree. As he asked TMZ immediately after his release on Friday night (video embedded), "How do you protect your kids without guns?" He was, of course, channeling the National Rifle Association (NRA).

However, even if that assertion is true, why would Williams have his hands on a stolen weapon?

It's not as though Williams has been squeaky clean since his Friday arrest. That same night, after he was released, he was involved in a club brawl, along with his friend Suge Knight.

Charlie Sheen's homophobic slur during Cabo bar grand opening caught on video

What can you say about Charlie Sheen? He's been helping people like Lindsay Lohan ($100,000 for her IRS bill) and a little girl fighting cancer ($75,000). But after all that good PR, he went and put his foot in his mouth again.

As reported on Sunday (and with video of the incident embedded below), Sheen hosted the grand opening of his bar at El Ganzo, reportedly the hippest hotel in Cabo San Lucas. Things were going well until Sheen, whether via a slip of the lisp (his words) or intentionally, hurled a homophobic slur at the audience.

Sheen was introducing several musical acts who were slated to appear at the event this weekend, when, during the intro, for some unexplained reason, he shouted, "How we doing? ... Lying bunch of f*ggot as*holes; how we doing?"

Wow, that's an interesting choice set of words, and it's unclear how some of the luminaries, which included Dr. Robert Huizenga from "The Biggest Loser" and Los Angeles mayor Antonio Villaraigosa reacted to the outburst.

Sheen, as you might expect based on his appearance at the opening, is a partner in the bar. His statements in response to criticism have been:

1. "I meant no ill will and intended to hurt no one and I apologize if I offended anyone."

2. "I meant to say maggot, but I have a lisp."

Watch Elijah Wood as a 'Maniac' in first six minutes of the movie

"Lord of the Rings" star Elijah Wood (he also appears in "The Hobbit" trilogy in what should be called cameo appearances) is definitely not a cute or brave little Hobbit in his latest role. He plays the title character in Franck Khalfoun's remake of the 1980 horror-slasher film Maniac, and on Friday Warner Bros. released a video with the first six minutes of the film.

While not as high desired as the first nine minutes of "Star Trek Into Darkness," (which was leaked online then promptly taken down after cease-and-desist orders by Paramount Pictures), it's still an interesting view at the remake of William Lustig's 1980 version.

The 1980 version is described as follows:
Maniac is a 1980 American cult slasher film, about a disturbed and traumatized serial killer who scalps his victims. It was directed by and written by Joe Spinell and C. A. Rosenberg. Joe Spinell also developed the story, and stars as the lead character.
Now, the 2013 version is described thusly:
Maniac is a 2013 horror slasher film directed by Franck Khalfoun and written by Alexandre Aja, Grégory Levasseur and C.A. Rosenburg. It is the remake of the 1980 film of the same name and stars Elijah Wood as Frank Zito, a disturbed individual who becomes a ruthless serial killer. The film also stars Nora Arnezeder, Jan Broberg and America Olivo.
In both films the protagonist is Frank Zito, and you can expect a lot of blood, with Zito's desire of scalping involved.

The first six minutes of the film features the pursuit of a woman in the wrong place at the wrong time, as well as a lot of heavy breathing -- we kept expecting to hear the theme from Halloween.

Previously slated for 2012, the film is now scheduled for a spring 2013 release.

Katt Williams involved in club brawl just hours after release from jail

Arrested yesterday, and then released, comedian Katt Williams decided to go out and party, anyway. It wasn't funny.

Williams, in the embedded video, didn't seem to be as involved as his good friend Suge Knight. Either way, though, the two were involved in a brawl outside the Eden club in Hollywood.

The video, which admittedly is somewhat shaky due to circumstances which should be obvious, begins when the brawl is already in full swing (no pun intended). Katt Williams can be seen avoiding the action, walking behind a dumpster, while Suge Knight -- in a tan long-sleeved shirt -- appears to be trying to go after someone.

The camera pulls back, and on the left side of the screen it appears that Knight punches someone, although the actual impact is blocked from view.

Later, Williams is seen heading for a black SUV while while being chased by someone. Williams appears to make it to the car, and safety, before the other man catches up.

Knight is then seen getting into a white SUV and taking off, nearly running over several other people while exiting the parking lot. One could reasonably believe that the video could be used as evidence against Knight, if anyone wanted to press charges.

Williams had been arrested earlier Friday for child endangerment and had only been out of jail for a few hours before he was involved in the brawl. Still earlier in the day, it was reported that that IRS had levied a $4 million tax lien against Williams.

Pete Rose and fiancee look to make a hit with 'Hits and Mrs.'

Pete Rose, 71, is looking to make his reality TV series a hit, though it could easily be a miss. As reported on Saturday, his new show "Hits and Mrs." stars Rose along with with his sexy 30-ish former Playboy model fiancee, Kiana Kim (she refuses to reveal her exact age).

Rose is baseball's all-time hits leader, but he was banned from the sport for gambling on games, although he denies ever gambling on his team's games. Many feel he should be included in Baseball's Hall of Fame, but it doesn't appear it will happen unless there is a sea change.

The couple's new show premieres on Jan. 14, 2013 at 10 p.m. ET on TLC. The focus will be his relationship with Kim. The show has a short six-episode order, and it's unclear if the couple will walk down the idea during the series.

In a video clip from the premiere episode, Rose and Kim are seen arguing about a wedding date, with Rose, apparently annoyed, saying they'll walk down the aisle "in 2029!" However, Kim is seen trying on a wedding dress in the episode.

According to a TLC announcement about the show, the couple's families have reservations about their engagement. To make matters worse -- or more complicated -- the couple lives in different cities. Kim lives in Los Angeles with her two children and Rose lives in Las Vegas.

Emmylou Harris being investigated for hit-and-run in California

A new hit-and-run incident has taken place, and for once it's not Lindsay Lohan or some other youthful actress involved in the accident. In this case, it's 65-year-old country singer Emmylou Harris.

The report, which emerged on Saturday, said that Harris hit a car on a Los Angeles freeway and then left the scene.

Law enforcement sources told TMZ on Saturday that Emmylou Harris was driving a rental car on the 405 Freeway on Oct. 1. when she struck a car. She allegedly left the scene without exchanging info. Reportedly, she did not even stop.

According to the sources, the California Highway Patro has opened a hit-and-run investigation after the other driver filed a report. Fortunately for the victim, he must have gotten the license plate info, which the CHP used to track down Harris' rental car.

The investigation is now complete -- which is how it hit the media -- and the file has sent to the district attorney who will decide if the country music legend should be prosecuted.

What's interesting is that a representative for Harris admitted that the singer was involved in a "minor traffic accident," adding "she [Harris] unintentionally rubbed bumpers with another vehicle." The rep said that Harris didn't realize the cars made contact so she left the scene.

The rep stated that the incident was a "garden-variety accident that happens everyday on the 405," and that Harris has turned the matter over to her insurance company. It's unclear how Harris didn't realize the cars made contact, when the rep says she has turned the matter over to her insurance company.

According to California state law,
the driver of any motor vehicle that has been involved in an accident or collision, regardless of the level of seriousness or extent of injury, must stop, find the owner of the damaged property and produce his or her driver documentation.
The vehicle codes involved in California are:
Vehicle Code Section 20002 - When an accident results only in property damage (including motor vehicles), the driver must stop and locate owner or person in charge and exchange driver documentation. If owner of damaged property cannot be located, the driver is not permitted to leave the scene of the accident until the following actions have been completed:
  • Leave a note with facts surrounding the case and driver documentation information.
  • Report the accident to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) or local police.
Vehicle Code Sections 20001, 20003, and 20004 - Any accident that involves injury or death mandates the driver to perform all actions included in Section 20002 plus render reasonable assistance to the injured party or parties.
Harris would be in violation of Vehicle Code Section 20002, in this case.

One-handed XFC champion blocked from entry into the UFC

As you can see in the Facebook image above, Nick Newell has only one hand. As you can also see, he thinks "Ten fingers are overrated," and he proves it, too. He's an MMA fighter and the undefeated belt holder in the Xtreme Fighting Championship.

However, as TMZ reported on Friday, he wants to move to the better known Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) -- but he's being blocked by UFC president Dana White.

White has expressed reservations that Newell can cut it in the UFC. He says that "It's hard to fight with two arms, you know what I mean?"

However, Newell is sure he can make the transition, saying "I've won by arm bar, rear naked choke, guillotine, heel hook, TKO and knockout. In nine pro fights I have never been out struck."

He adds, "If you have followed this sport, or know anything about it, you would be able to see that I'm amongst its elite. Just because I'm not in the UFC doesn't mean I wouldn't beat most of the guys in there."

It's obvious why Newell wants to move to the UFC. The Ultimate Fighting Championship is the largest mixed martial arts promotion company in the world, and it hosts most of the top-ranked fighters in the sport. It produces events worldwide.

The embedded video shows some of Newell's action. It shows Newell defeat Eric Reynolds to become the XFC Lightweight Champion.

Katt Williams arrested over possible child endangerment charges

Comedian Katt Williams has become the latest version Britney Spears -- or Lindsay Lohan -- or you name any person who has turned into a train wreck in a relatively short period of time. In the latest installment in what seems to be a disaster-ridden past few months, Williams was arrested on Friday for child endangerment.

According to law enforcement sources, Los Angeles Police Department officers arrested Williams at his Woodland Hills home on Friday morning, after an investigation from the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services concluded that the numerous guns and illegal drugs in his house created a safety hazard for the children.

The report went on to say that during the arrest various items were seized, but did not specify what they were.

As of late Friday, Williams was still in custody, being held on $100,000. His four children have been placed in protective custody, although that is a somewhat vague statement.

Reportedly, Williams' case will go to the district attorney next week for possible felony child endangerment charges.

Among Williams' recent legal issues (from Wikipedia)

Nov. 9, 2012: A lawsuit was filed in the Superior Court of California County of Los Angeles which alleges that on Oct. 6, 2012 Williams hit his former assistant with "a closed fist" causing serious injury. The plaintiff is asking for punitive damages in the amount of $5 million.

Nov. 15, 2012: Williams was arrested in Oakland, California on charges of suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon for allegedly beating an 18 year-old Berkeley, Calif. man with a bottle aboard Williams' tour bus.

A few days after Williams' aborted Nov. 16, 2012 performance at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, an attendee filed a class action lawsuit, seeking compensation for himself and "all others who paid money for a show and got nothing but Katt Williams' non-performance."

Dec. 2, 2012: Williams was arrested in Seattle after he allegedly got into a dispute at a bar in South Lake Union. Williams’ arrest came after his no-show on Nov. 29, 2012 for the first night of a planned two-night engagement at the Paramount Theater.

Dec. 7, 2012: Williams was arrested in Dunnigan, Calif. on a felony warrant arising from a Nov. 25, 2012 incident in Sacramento where he allegedly drove a three-wheeled motorbike on a sidewalk and failed to stop for police.

During the resulting police chase, Williams is alleged to have nearly hit five people with his bike, which prompted authorities to end the chase for safety reasons and issue the subsequent warrant.

It was also reported earlier today that the IRS has slapped Williams with a $4 million tax lien.

Kim Kardashian: Sick, not pregnant

Kim Kardashian reportedly was experiencing the symptoms of morning sickness. Unfortunately, as doctors will tell you, those symptoms can occur if you are just sick, and it appears that is what was happening.

Of course, with Kim's high profile and her relationship with Kanye West, news of a pregnancy, or rumors, anyway, have nearly the same effect on the media as the Kate Middleton pregnancy.

An insider made the following statement: “If Kim was pregnant, I would know because Kris [Jenner] would announce it to the world. I know she wasn’t feeling well on Christmas," adding "“I do know that Kim wants to be a mom, but she first wants to get married or at least engaged."

There you go: she's not going to get pregnant unless she has a ring on her finger. She's not going to pull a "Jessica Simpson" and have an unexpected pregnancy. It's clear that she wants kids, though. She has made it quite clear on "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" that she would undergo fertility treatments if it was necessary.

Another source said, “If she looks bigger, its only because holiday eating!”

Kardashian herself took to Twitter, perhaps to dispel rumors. She tweeted two things. One was a post that said "Getting the flu on Christmas is no bueno. I hope it passes soon :-(.”

The second was a sexy photo of herself wearing a skimpy bikini.

So, is Kim Kardashian pregnant? It seems like the answer is not yet.

Kate Winslet receives out of this world gift from Sir Richard Branson

Kate Winslet has received a present from Sir Richard Branson, and it is out of this world. According to a report in Friday's Telegraph, the actress, who earlier this month secretly wed Branson's nephew, Ned RocknRoll, has been given a $200,000 ticket for a Virgin Galactic flight into space.

It is unclear, though, if the ticket was a wedding present or a gift for saving Branson's mother Eve from a fire on his Necker Island retreat last year. Either way, it is reported that the 37-year-old Academy Award-winning actress was “over the moon” after she received the gift.

In September, Branson said: "I'm not sure she [Winslet] wants to go on a one-way trip to Mars, but she wants to go into space."

Ned RocknRoll, 34, works part time for Virgin Galactic. The company hopes to begin flights in 2013.

According to Wikipedia, Virgin Galactic, a company within Sir Richard Branson's Virgin Group, "plans to provide sub-orbital spaceflights to space tourists, suborbital launches for space science missions and orbital launches of small satellites. Further in the future Virgin Galactic hopes to offer orbital human spaceflights as well."

More than 530 people have already bought a $200,000 ticket for a trip, including comedian Russell Brand and actor Ashton Kutcher. Noted physicist Stephen Hawking has also received an offer for a free trip, again courtesy of Branson.

Hoax: Lawsuit claiming Britney Spears' son Sean belongs to Chris Federline

The joke is on the media, according to Diane Story, Kevin Federline's aunt. She said on Friday that court documents that were reportedly filed earlier this week by Kevin's brother, Chris, were a hoax. Story said:
We pity the hoaxter for believing they could get by such a crazy story and for also believing, they could damage the reputation of America’s pop princess. Britney is immune because of the love this country has for her.
That statement sounds oddly like Story was channeling Mr. T. The quote saying that "Britney is immune" is strange, as well. During the year in which she seemed to be experiencing meltdown after meltdown, it hardly seemed as though she was immune, with report after report taking her to task.

The recent report, which appeared first in the National Enquirer, said that Chris Federline had filed court papers alleging that he -- not his brother Kevin -- was the father of Britney Spears' eldest son, Sean. According to the report, Chris had an affair with Spears during her marriage to Kevin, thus resulting in the pregnancy.

He also alleged that Spears stole his credit card and racked up thousands of dollars worth of charges.

In the documents, Chris said:
I do confess I slept with Britney, and I am the true father [of Sean], but the public does not need to know.
Apparently, though, the lawsuit has already been thrown out. It appears that the lawsuit was the work of a convicted felon who has allegedly filed hundreds of similar fake lawsuits in the past.

The Chris Federline lawsuit is reportedly the work Jonathan Lee Riches, who is the also the man who claimed he was the uncle of Sandy Hook Elementary school suspect Adam Lanza. Riches was arrested recently on a federal probation violation charge, as The Smoking Gun first reported.

Britney Spears was married to Kevin Federline from 2004 - 2006. Son Sean Preston was born in Sept. 2005; while her second son with Federline, Jayden James, was born shortly before Spears filed for divorce in 2006.

Federline was granted sole physical and legal custody of the children in 2008.

ILM posts behind-the-scenes video for 'Avengers' finale scene

If you think that just because the home video release of "The Avengers" has come and gone, the studio and others would be done with video releases, you're wrong. On Thursday, Industrial Light and Magic (ILM) released a behind-the-scenes video showing the magic behind the blockbuster movies epic finale.

Of course, ILM is now owned by Disney, as part of its LucasArts acquisition. It's certainly a good thing, as Disney is the studio behind "The Avengers" and the individual films for its heroes (Thor, Iron Man, Captain America, etc.); it's all in the family, now.

The next film in the Disney Marvel Comics universe is "Iron Man 3," which releases on May 3, 2013. It will be followed by "Thor: The Dark World" on Nov. 8, 2013, and then by "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" (April 4, 2014).

Finally, the new franchise, "Guardians of the Galaxy" launches on Aug. 1, 2014, leading Marvel Studios into "The Avengers 2" (May 1, 2015).

"The Avengers" was released on Blu-ray, Blu-ray 3D and DVD on Sept. 25, 2012. Written and directed by Joss Whedon, "The Avengers" starred Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner / the Hulk), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Tom Hiddleston(Loki), Stellan SkarsgÄrd (Dr. Erik Selvig), Cobie Smulders (Agent Maria Hill), Clark Gregg (Agent Phil Coulson), and Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury).

Surveillance video shows alleged assailant in second New York City subway shoving incident

People have noted that since the mass shooting at the Newtown, Conn. Sandy Hook Elementary School, it seems like there has been an epidemic of shootings -- not necessarily mass shootings, though. Is the same thing happening in terms of people being pushed in front of New York City subway trains?

On Thursday night, a man died after being pushed in front of a subway train at a Queens subway station. It was the second subway incident this month. Police released surveillance video on Friday (embedded) that shows the suspect, a woman, running away from the station afterward.

Police have described the incident as follows:
Police said a man was pushed onto the tracks at a Queens subway station Thursday night by a woman who was described by witnesses as mumbling to herself before the attack. She didn’t appear to know her victim, who was killed by a No. 7 train as it barreled into the elevated 40th Street-Lowery Street station in the Sunnyside neighborhood.
The video is from a surveillance camera from a business along Queens Boulevard near the scene. The grainy footage shows a heavy-set woman in a coat walking away from the subway station.

Five witnesses said they saw the woman fleeing from the incident. They described her as a Hispanic woman standing about 5'5", who appeared to be in her 20s. She was seen wearing a gray, blue and white ski jacket and Nike sneakers with gray tops and red soles.

As of Friday morning, the victim hadn’t yet been identified; he was declared dead at the scene.

On Dec. 3, Ki-Suck Han, 58 years old, died after being pushed onto the tracks at the 49th Street station in Manhattan. Naeem Davis, a 30-year-old homeless man, has been charged with murder in the case, which allegedly occurred after an altercation between the two men.

A photo taken at the time of the incident showed Ki-Suck Han with his head turned toward the train, with his arms reaching up. He was unable to climb off the tracks in time. Publication of the photo raised questions as to whether the photographer should have been trying to help the man.

The photographer, R. Umar Abbasi, said that he was trying to alert the motorman to what was going on by flashing his camera. He expressed dismay that others closer to Han didn't try to help Han in the approximately 22 seconds before the train struck him.

On Friday, Mayor Michael Bloomberg reminded the public that such occurrences remain rare. “To say that it’s only two in, you know, a long period of time doesn’t help either person. I don’t know what happened here.”

FBI files show agency's interest in Marilyn Monroe's possible communist sympathies

FBI files on Marilyn Monroe were recently obtained by The Associated Press through the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). Earlier this year they could not be located, but the newly re-issued files show to what extent the agency was monitoring the Academy Award-nominated actress with regard to possible communist sympathies prior to her death on Aug. 5, 1962.

Among the information in the records is an anonymous call made on July 11, 1956, to the New York Daily News that claimed Monroe's then-husband playwright Arthur Miller was a communist and that Monroe had "drifted into the Communist orbit."

The caller also said that the actress's company, Marilyn Monroe Productions, was "filled with communists" and that money from the company was being used to finance communist activities, with Miller's marriage to Monroe during a Jewish ceremony less than a month earlier a "coverup."

The heavily redacted files also show a level of concern among the FBI about her relationship with Frederick Vanderbilt Field, who was disinherited from his wealthy family over his left-leaning views.

In 1962, the year of her death, a furniture shopping trip to Mexico brought her into contact with Field, who was living there with his wife in self-imposed exile. Informants told the FBI that a “mutual infatuation” had developed between the two, which caused concern among some in her inner circle, including her therapist.

In Field’s autobiography, "From Right to Left," he devoted an entire chapter to Monroe’s Mexico trip, entitled “An Indian Summer Interlude.” The chapter mostly discusses shopping trips and meals with Monroe. It only mentions politics once in a passage on their dinnertime conversations, saying:
She talked mostly about herself and some of the people. She told us about her strong feelings for civil rights, for black equality, as well as her admiration for what was being done in China, her anger at red-baiting and McCarthyism and her hatred of (FBI director) J. Edgar Hoover.
Monroe's FBI file was begun in 1955. It was during the 1950's that McCarthyism was at its height, with many of the Senator's investigations focusing on celebrities.

Monroe's files mostly focus on her travels and associations, as the authorities were concerned that she might be recruited by the Communist Party, with her star power a reason for the Party's interest.

Feds slap Katt Williams with $4 million tax lien

If you think Lindsay Lohan's remaining federal tax bill is large, you haven't seen anything. Katt Williams -- the comedian who has been in hot water for various reasons, has a bill that makes Lohan's look like a dollar store bill.

As reported on Friday, the IRS has filed a lien against Katt Williams. The feds claim the comedian failed to pay $3.2 million in taxes in 2008, as well as an additional $829,352 in 2009, for a total of more than $4 million.

In 2010, Williams had another tax lien filed against him, that one for $284,000.

We'll see if Williams needs an assist from someone, as Lindsay Lohan did (from Charlie Sheen). His bill is considerably higher than Lohan's, who had a $93,701 2009 tax bill, and a 2010 tax bill for $140,203.

After Sheen's gift of $100,000, Lohan managed to pay off her 2009 bill and $6,299 of her 2010 bill, leaving a mere $133,904 to go for that year, and an unknown amount for 2011.

Nick Stahl caught masturbating in porn store stall

"Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines" star Nick Stahl was arrested in a adult book store -- which we all know has far more than just books -- for fondling. Fortunately, he was only fondling himself, but it was still worthy of a bust.

Law enforcement sources said that LAPD undercover vice officers were conducting a routine check of an adult store in Hollywood around 6 p.m. Thursday night, when they discovered Stahl alone in a -- we have to say it -- stall (private booth), watching a porn film, while committing a "lewd act."

As he was solo, we are sure you can figure things out. Stahl was masturbating. He was was booked for lewd conduct, which is a misdemeanor.

Stahl was cited and released from police custody a few hours later, and to make matters worse, he was met as he walked out of the police station by a TMZ cameraman (embedded). It was, he said to the cameraman, all a "misunderstanding."

Stahl wandered off on foot; he wasn't picked up by anyone. That could, of course, be a concern. During this year, Stahl has disappeared multiple times, sometimes for several weeks.

Stahl married actress Rose Murphy in June of 2009. The couple has a daughter, Marlo. In January of this year, Stahl and Murphy separated, but in July, it was reported that he had reunited with his wife and was getting treatment for substance abuse.

Sofia Vergara tweets sexy Christmas present to fans

Sofia Vergara offered her fans a post-Christmas Day present on Thursday, as she took to social media to show off her curves.

Vergara tweeted the image above, or rather, a link to her account, which shows the "Modern Family" star wearing a chic black-and-white cutaway one piece swimsuit while in Miami, Fla. The tweet was accompanied by a single word: "Holyday!"

Obviously, unlike most Americans, Vergara didn't spend a lot of time eating Christmas turkey or dessert over the holiday. It's apparent that underneath the pregnancy that her character, Gloria Pritchett, is experiencing this season lies a taut, toned and sexily curvy body.

[For those not watching "Modern Family," Gloria Pritchett, the much younger wife of family head Jay Pritchett, is pregnant, in a hilarious turn on a hilarious and Emmy Award-winning show.]

The 40-year-old mother-of-one is spending the holiday season in Miami with her fiance Nick Loeb and her mother and other family members.

Vergara is currently working on the comedy "Fading Gigalo," which also stars Woody Allen; she recently filmed an intimate scene with "Basic Instinct" star Sharon Stone, who plays her bisexual love interest.

Indeed, we're going to have to see the film.
