No, they don't have kids; while Pattinson, 26, and Stewart, 22, did live together as boyfriend and girlfriends, they are nor parents. The custody battle centers around their dog, Bear.
While Stewart will keep her cat, Max, Robert wants Bear, a mixed-breed rescue dog they adopted from a high-kill shelter in New Orleans last year while filming “Breaking Dawn.”
At the time, Pattinson told a German newspaper that "I'm one of those guys who'd adopt a whole animal shelter ... Thank God that Kristen was with me. So we just adopted one dog. A mutt. We called him Bear.”
Now, it appears he's much happier without Stewart - or perhaps not. Reports are he was and still is heartbroken over Stewart's betrayal.
A source says that after Pattinson moved his things out of their digs, he told Stewart he wanted Bear.
“She was heartbroken – they adopted Bear together and she always felt that he was their little baby. But Rob was so hurt by Kristen’s actions he decided that he wants the dog to help him get over what happened. After all, a dog is a man’s best friend and Bear is such a good companion.
“However, Kristen won’t give up Bear in a hurry. She helped Rob save Bear from Parvo disease, which nearly took its life when it was a puppy. She wants joint custody – and it could get a little messy."
Ironically, prior to their split, the couple had been looking into getting another rescue, a companion for Bear. The source added,
At this point, it seems out of the question for the couple to get back together. That may change, but for now, Pattinson is reportedly very hurt. There are rumors that he wants a “man to man” chat with Sanders, and that Stewart is penning an apology letter to Sanders' wife, Liberty Ross.
