Delta Air Lines (Delta owns Northwest) spokesman Carlos Santos said the flight was diverted "out of an abundance of caution." He wasn't aware who found the package on the flight from Detroit to Orlando, FL, or why they thought it was suspicious.
Diverted to Nashville, the 75 passengers and five crew members on Northwest flight 2364 were taken off the plane around 8 AM Friday while bomb-sniffing dogs examined it. Two hours later, they were allowed to reboard.

The article is a little short on details. Where was the package found? If on the plane why would that have caused panic? All passengers and carry on items (not hidden)would have been screened before allowed on the aircraft. Thanks

Yes, it was found ON the plane. The crew just told the passengers that they had a "concern" and would be diverting. Sure, because if they had told people they were cowering in fear of a little ornament, they would have had a whole hell of a lot of angry passengers.Thansk
