Google's Doodle today celebrates both the Sesame Street Anniversary which will occur on Nov. 10th, when its 40th season begins. It's also a celebration of Big Bird's birthday, although in terms of his Sesame Street age, he's effectively frozen at six years old.Google marked the Sesame Street Anniversary and Big Bird's Birthday in its typical way. That is to say, it changed the Doodle (logo) on its home page to be representative of the event. Past such Doodles included celebrations of H.G. Wells' birthday (which was a rather mysterious series of Doodles).
While Big Bird's Birthday really means nothing, as he's frozen in age, the actor inside the costume is not so fortunate. Caroll Spinney has reached the ripe old age of 75, and others have been trained to take over as big bird later. For his Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch work, Spinney has received both a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame (1994) and the Library of Congress's Living Legend award (2000).
The November 10th season premiere will also be a Sesame Street anniversary show, with cameos from a number of people, including First Lady Michelle Obama. Expect a long parade of celebrity cameos on that episode.

Sesame Street ruined a good show, after Jim Henson died. The show should be called Elmo St., thats pretty much the whole show. And putting cookie monster on a diet, is ridiculous. Its a friggin kids show, leave the PC crap out of it.
First of all,I Congragulate "Google" has completed 50 years in a peaceful manner giving the world a new Change. PacMan "doodle" was really good! A great way to experiment with HTML5.
The cookie monster singing about cookies being a "sometimes snack" is just ridiculous. No wonder my 3yo don't like it
I LOVE what GOOGLE does all year but this was GREAT!

Sesame Street was ALWAYS an educational program!
I guess that is SOCIALIST now too!
