If All Else Fails, VA GOP Candidate Will Use Bullets

This is indeed not just strange but frightening. Catherine Crabill, the Republican Party's nominee for Virginia's 99th District in the House of Delegates, gave a speech at a recent political event suggesting that if the GOP cannot retake the government through the vote, an armed insurrection may be necessary.
"We have the chance to fight this battle at the ballot box before we have to resort to the bullet box. But that's the beauty of our Second Amendment right. I am glad for all of us who enjoy the use of firearms for hunting, but make no mistake, that was not the intent of the Founding Fathers. Our Second Amendment right was to guard against tyranny."
Plotting an armed insurrection against the U.S. government? That's treason, "make no mistake."

In no other developed country do people talk like this. It seems to show that the U.S. has degenerated and is on the verge of falling apart. To be honest, it's scary. It seems, according to my psychologist wife, that society is "caving in on itself."

Don't forget, the people who founded this nation were traitors to the crown. If it weren't for those traitors, we wouldn't have the rights we have.

I don't buy into all the anti-Obama hysteria, but I absolutely think he's taking our country downhill. Look at the Federal Deficit. It's higher now, thanks to Obama's brilliant "spend it if ya ain't got it" policy than it has been under every other President combined.

Obama is not the man who should have won. He's the man who won because people were lulled by a combination of smooth talk and skin color. (HE'S OUR FIRST BLACK PRESIDENT!!! OMFG, WE HAVE TO ELECT HIM!!!!!)

This current administration is approaching the point of tyranny... they are attempting to control every aspect of our lives, from our use of energy, to our health care, they are building a massive government for the government. They are taking ownership of companies and subsidizing them to unfairly compete with competitors. They are killing productive jobs in the private sector in favor of non-productive government jobs. They are trying to put more citizens out of work by legalizing illegal workers.

Nothing "purchased" is a right. Health care is not a right. If it is a right, and the government is going to take from the few to give to the many, than I demand that they also buy me my firearms! Ownership of firearms is a constitutional right, so the government should make sure that every person has at least one.

Oh my, this may take a bit. Oh well, I'll just go in reverse order and see how things work out!

Actually, in Constitutional Law, the four main rights addressed as being inalienable are life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness, and the security of one's property. In other words, something that can be purchased can be a right. For instance, the gun I own is one I purchased. I didn't purchase the rights to the gun (those are guaranteed to me in the 2nd Amendment) but I did have to purchase it.

It should also be noted that while you bolded what some of the inalienable rights are, you left out a rather major part.

The current administration has consent from the governed. True, they do not have consent from all of the governed, but no president ever has. If you go by election results, the current administration has a much larger base of consent than any previous administration, and leaps and bounds beyond the previous one.

Now, there's another important thing you skipped over.

You skipped the 'alter' part and leapt right to abolish! That's not a good thing. The Founding Fathers recognized that the American Revolution was not a revolution of force or chance, as were all previous revolutions in known history. They knew it was an ideological one, drawn forth from the self-reliance and self-governance that the American colonies had.

Because of that, the Constitution lays out four separate paths which allow the people to peacefully amend the Constitution. While only two of those four paths have been taken so far, they have worked extremely well. There is no reason to ignore the past 200+ years of American history just because you're upset.

While I understand that you don't approve of how heavy-handed the Obama administration is towards the economy, you must realize it is the exact same way the liberlas felt about the Bush administration's heavy-handed approach to the military and national security. Both presidents have trampled upon the rights guaranteed to us by the Constitution, and both did so with the support of their parties.

Now, that is not good nor is it even ok. Luckily the Founding Fathers (in their infinite wisdom) figured out a good plan for this. Every two years, the entire House of Representatives is up for re-election. Also every two years, a third of the Senate is up for re-election. Don't like how one party is acting? Vote them out. It is what the Democrats did in 2006, and what the Republicans did in 1994. It is most likely also what the Republicans will do in 2010, but they'll need your help.

Don't run to your guns when things don't go your way. The Founding Fathers crafted the constitution so that most every conflict could be solved through peaceful means. So far, the only time it has failed was slavery. No matter how bad this may seem to you (and no matter how bad what Bush did seems to the Democrats) you have to realize that neither issue is as severe as slavery. There will be a peaceful and American way to do this.

Obama is no more a facist than Bush was, and when all is said and done they'll both amount to the same thing. A president who widely over-extended the power of the Executive branch and trampled upon the rights of the average citizen to do it. Obama has interfered with private business, Bush interefered with private life. It is as Cato declared "A Whig is a Tory out of power, and a Tory is a Whig in power." Subtitute 'Democrat' for 'Whig' and 'Republican' for 'Tory' and you'll get the idea. Both parties are almost exactly the same. They differ on a few key hot button issues, but that's about it.

Please, be respectful of the Founding Fathers and pursue a peaceful option (such as the Tea Party protests) before you begin yelling about violence. While I understand your passion, you must realize how it can be misinterpreted. Someone could think you are threatening them, even though I am sure you are most certainly saying what you are saying to help them out! Someone who is feeling threatened by you is much less likely to help you.

That might just be my private education talking, but I do think that the best way to approach this all is through a calm and peaceful manner. If that goes to hell, just remember that automatics waste too much ammo; manuals are the choice for the true fiscal conservative!

Someone seems bitter. I can understand, you had to deal with it for 8 years. But you have to realize something: This is how you were to them Annoying, isn't it? Yep, you too were that annoying. And come the next Republican president, you're going to act exactly the same way, and they'll be complaining about you.

According to the Founding Fathers (or at the very least, according to one) patriots willing to battle for their country is a bad thing! It is a patriot who loves his country to the point where he is blinded to how it treats his fellow men. Currently, the majority of Americans feel they are being treated well by the government. The more patriotic Americans may disagree. That's fine, it is their right to do so. But just realize, you can't free a people who are already free. And Americans are free, even if you're too blinded by your own ideology to recognize how others enjoy things the way they are.

The Federal Deficit was higher at the end of Dubya's reign than it was under every other President combined before him. Logically, the person who would take over from him would then continue to have that deficity unless they did something fancy with the federal budget and got spending under control. The federal budget is not set until October. In other words, until October the budget we are working with is the one allocated to us by the Bush administration. Until Obama's budget actually begins to effect things (and it probably wouldn't show until the middle of 2010) you can't shove the fault of another man onto him. When things go sour after that though, by all means go ahead.

North Korea and China are dictatorships, and by their nature are not prone to change. Only in a representative democracy could a person successfully change their government without resorting to violence.

Also, Obama put a copy of his birth certificate on the internet for everyone to see. You can easily find it yourself if you google it. Here are two images I found within ten seconds!

Since he was born in the State of Hawaii, and was born to a legal resident of the state of Hawaii, according to the 14th Amendment of the United States he is a naturally born citizen.

The sad thing is that no matter how well reasoned public discourse is, people are so set in their ways, and so brainwashed by the talking heads in the media of their choice, they will never see the world for anything other than what they want to see.

While I have the feeling that most of the words I typed out will be lost on some of the people I was responding to, I hope that people who happened to read them might feel a bit enlightened. I am certainly not 100% correct on everything, as every human is with fault. However I am fairly confident that what I say is true, and I welcome anyone who is willing to challenge my viewpoints to do so. I don't know if I'll remember even having made these posts when I wake up (I am drunk, sorry for the poor cohesiveness, I'd do better if I was sober) but if I do, I hope that I'll come back and see what the responses are.

I didn't see anybody threaten such an uprising on the Bush administration. And the last I checked, he's the reason why we have the biggest mess to clean up, so you can't expect Obama to wave a magic wand and it all goes away immediately. He DID say it'll get worse before it gets better.
