According to AFP, the ad is for an underwear company that is offering a discount of $7 on new underwear with a trade-in of old ones. The slogan: "The country needs new undies."
Merkel isn't the only one photoshopped in the ad. Also appearing are other members of Germany's political corps.
My guess is that the slogan is implying that the country needs a change of more than underwear.
Despite this, however, the electronic billboard has drawn much attention, with many snapping pics of it.
Merkel's office was mum about the new ad. A spokesman told AFP:
"The chancellor's office does not want to comment on the campaign."It's not the first time Merkel's flesh has been the subject of public attention, though the last time, as highlighted by the Sun, it wasn't photoshopped.
